Ford drifts a cloverleaf: Time for Coffee?

Is there a better way to mark St Patrick's day than with a green Mustang drifting? No, apparently not

St Patrick's Day is a big deal in the United States. An unbelievably big deal. An irritatingly big deal. All of the green-haired, shamrock-wearing, Guinness-drinking, leprechaun-stereotyping asshattery can be forgiven, though, when it results in this sort of stuff.

To celebrate St Patrick's Day - it's a big deal, you know - Ford Performance got ahold of one of its 900hp drift Mustang RTRs and painted it green. It threw in some green underglow for good measure, added green LEDs to the front grille and drifted it around a freeway intersection - motorway junction, to you and I - to create the shape of a four leaf clover.

The official video of that run is pretty cool, but nowhere near as cool as the full, unedited single take that Ford also released, showing driver Vaughn Gittin Jr. - who else? - holding some ridiculous angles up and down the ramps. Of course, a standard 5.0-litre Mustang might have a hard time replicating the feat, but even in such a highly modified vehicle, the sight is still a hugely impressive one.

The video may only a minute and a half long, but we'll wager you'll want to watch it more than just the once. So without further ado, we present to you, the true meaning of St Patrick's Day. Enjoy!

While I admit that I may be in a minority of one, this does nothing for me. Pointless.

Although the fact that the rear tyres died in a billow of green smoke is pretty cool.

Exactly, I read the title and was thinking to myself, 'Why would Ford be drifting an Alfa?'

For me this would have been far more interesting to watch if it was drone footage looking down from above so you could see the cloverleaf shape...
