Rear-end is far, far too busy.
The designers had a competition on how many incongruous curves, angles, silly sticky-out bits and plasticky add-ons they could include. The designer who let his overly excited 8 year old design the car on bring-your-child-to-work day won the competition.

Those performance figures look very conservative for 400 hp! Unless it is a porker, over 2 tons.... Big improvement from previous model, not my cup of tea.

It's quite a small car isn't it? The article mentions the X4 as a rival but I think it's A3 based the X4 being a sector up from the Q3. G

Litchfield upgrade? Remap and intercooler 500bhp?.
You'd have to be out of your mind to do that, tho. I spent some time behind the wheel of a previous gen RS3 when they were new and the standard power just felt like too much for the car even then. The power overwhelmed the chassis - I couldn't help thinking that it would have been a better car/more enjoyable drive if it actually had less power...not more.I don't doubt that the car will be set up nicely for 400hp this time, but to up that to 500hp is probably asking far too much of the chassis to be anything other than a horrendous driving experience.
Note - I like the Sportback!

X4 would be equivalent to a Q5 sportback (if they made one) this is in the same segment as the X1/2 although the hottest one of those “only” has 300bhp in the X2 M35i. There is a rumour an X2 with 400bhp from a mild hybrid is coming though which will also go in the 1 series.
Pointless awful thing. Loved by housewives and car thieves to similar degrees. Doesn't do off road, handles like a car but hundreds of cars handle better, does it have the sensor in the exhaust like the SQ5? If so it'll have less wading depth than a BMW sedan. I suppose the seat looks quite comfy, but again there's any number of SUVs that are probably more comfy. I'd rather have the Skoda, pictured above.
