Bought a lovely (so I thought) 02 CBR 600f4i on Sunday. Couple of rides out and a commute to work all going so well. Went to start the bike today and she wouldn’t fire up. Any advice Im useless and brand new to biking (past my test this month) not sure if it’s the battery or not?! Anything I can try to diagnose the problem?

Do you have to pull the clutch in to start it?

Regulator/rectifier?

When i had my 04 CBR, it wouldn't start due to this.

Bike is in neutral, I've tried with or without the clutch in even taken the bike off the side stand. Flicked the kill switch in and off not sure what else I can try.

Does it turn over and not fire? Or is it not even turning over?

Get a video and we can help diagnose further

I had the same bike, an '03 model - highly likely to be the battery given the cold - try jump starting it

If it was trying to start, and now just making that noise in the video it suggests there isnt enough juice in the battery.
It has been rather cold recently and that tends to cause weak batteries to give up the ghost. If you have a voltmeter test the voltage across the terminals, if its about 12v or lower then battery is done. If you dont have one i would recommend getting one, voltmeters are cheap and a very useful tool.

Lift up the seat and jump it off a car, or a spare car battery if you have one lying around. Sounds like it is short on electrictikery.

Umm, not off the top of my head, but similar age Fireblade has 2 allen key/hex bolts towards the rear of the seat on the sides. Undo them and the back of the seat lifts up and can be withdrawn backwards.

Cheers mate I'll take a look in a second then I can give it a jump off the car and see if that's the issue

As above, battery I think mate.

That "reset of start sequence" is probably because every last bit of ampage has gone to the starter and it still isn't enough.
