Right so..
I don't do doctors....hardly ever go
I don't normally get ill...if I do I just keep going..never had a sick day in 34 yrs
However I'm not getting any younger so I guess I'll have something to deal with eventually..

And so off to the GP in the morning because of persistent headache. I don't expect a diagnosis off 'tinternet but just wondering if anyone similar.

Go to bed reasonably ok but when I get up,either in the middle of the night or later my heads buzzing. 2 am this morning. Then it lingers most of the day. Been about a month I think.
Blood pressure is a bit high according to my machine.
I'm not the lightest guy but cycle and gym and have an active job. Never smoked rarely drink.
Weight loss program underway but seems odd it's just started when nothing else has changed.

How are your teeth?

Mine were ground flat due to grinding before I realised why I often woke up with headaches....

How much water do you drink? Dehydration is one of my migraine triggers.

Oxygen. Do you have enough in your room (e.g do you sleep with the door closed and radiator on) or check for CO2...

You breathe in 19.7% oxygen by volume, you breathe out 19.6% oxygen and very minimal by volume CO2.
Unless you are on the International Space Station it isn't gong to be this.

Carbon monoxide however causes headaches and domestically is very very important

I’ve had this for a long time but not sure it’s the same as you’ve mentioned no other symptoms.

Mine seems to be sinus related I’m sure. Not something I’d ever suffered with before but I’ve been often been waking up with headaches the last couple of years and it’d seem to be really bad over my eyes. I’ve also been feeling dizzy when standing and literally seeing stars if I close my eyes at the time.

Reason I think sinus is laying down maybe making it worse. Also feels like something is going on in there, nose is clear but if I do a sort of mouth closed snoring action it feels strange or bunged up.

Worst is when they hang around all day. Nothing worse than going to sleep with one and waking up with one!

Also, could you explain how a radiator being on would decrease the o2 in the room please. I am fascinated by this.

One thing i've tried, that's helped, is Otrovine (nasal spray) - quick squirt before bed biggrin and helps you breath pretty clearly

Also, try adjusting your pillow(s), so it's not totally flat, ie your head is tilted at a slight angle.

Thanks all.
Well I will see what the Doc says. Can't say I have high hopes.

Don't think the carbon monoxide is a problem but I guess I should check

I developed strong hay fever at the age of 45. I'd always had a bit of it but it got considerably worse. For me it was grass. If someone cut the grass within 20' of me, I'd sneeze and get a sort of throbbing in the head. It was worse at night. I took anti-inflammatories during the 'season' and everything was fine.

Over the years it has moved on to include tree pollen, and all sorts of other stuff. It's becoming a bit of a pain, both figuratively and literally.

I would get headaches and I never got headaches.

Exhaled gases:16% O2, 3.8% CO2 by total volume..

CO2 toxicity (30 mins) is 5%, revised IDLH down to 4%

Went through a few years like that, nearly every morning, a headache.
It wasn't the alcohol as I was limiting or abstaining most of the time.
After a few years it stopped.

As an aside, I used to find whisky always gave me a headache, now I find a decent single peaty malt, doesn't affect me like that. Talisker, Bowmore, Laphroig etc. Or Ardmore.

Years ago Newcastle Exhibition to give me a headache after about 20 minutes! All the chemicals in it apparently. Does S&N still make Ex?

Very high blood pressure. Straight on the pills. Seems as mystery as to why it's so high.

I had this, a cracking headaches every morning on the way to work. I thought I had a brain tumour, went to the doctor, started taking blood pressure pills and the headaches got worse.

Another medic suggested the headaches might be pollen related and recommended I try Beconase, a couple of sniffs in the morning, a couple of sniffs at night.

Relief was almost immediate, I cannot tell you how relieved I was, it seems I'd developed hayfever for the first time ever (I'm 57) and the Beconase worked. It's available from the chemist without prescription but if you choose to use it, have a word with the pharmacist first so you buy the correct product.

TBH I'm thinking it's a bit early in the year to develop hayfever but it's worth a try.

Headaches in the morning could very well be lack of oxygen to the brain due to breathing issues during sleep have you looked at maybe this could be a symptom of Sleep Apnea?

Classic symptoms of bruxism related myofascial pain with migraines, +/- sleep apnoea which is synergistic with bruxism. Read up on it and consider a biteguard to wear nightly such as a SCi appliance. Sleep analysis through a sleep clinic is indicated and possibly a CPAP machine.
