again i blame eu regs
I wonder what the cost will be?again i blame eu regs
No doubt there will be a line of people willing to pay upwards of 25k (?) for an even more nondescript golf.
Looks great, love the lights, bet the interior is another step up. More power, improved diff and gearbox. Will drive and handle great, manage the school run, shop run and a spirited drive in equal measure. I'd have one tomorrow, what's not to like.
(looks at price)
Old one will do just fine. :-)

The car in this article’s pics has different versions of front bumper: none have the hideous fog lights seen before on Mk8 GTIs, but in the 4th pic the fogs are replaced on the left-side with open vents while the right-side has closed vents, in the 6th pic the fogs are replaced with open vents on both sides. All of which suggests cooling conundrums or active vents?
Have another look at the pictures, they all show offside with vents and nearside with no vents Maybe feeding an external oil cooler?

Also begs the question: if the Megane RS rip-off fog lights have gone, I wonder where the fogs are located now?

How long until we have a 10-model Golf performance range? If they make a 400bhp super R, i'm sure they can squeee something in at 370bhp between that and the normal R... and a super-duper R at 430bhp
At least since the MK4 there has normally been 3-4 performance models on sale at one time...MK4
GTI, GTI Anniversary, R32
MK5
GTI, Edition 30, Pirelli, R32
MK6
GTI, Edition 35, R
MK7
GTI, GTI Performance, Clubsport, Clubsport S, TCR, R
Granted they went a bit OTT on the MK7, but this was unusual in that there was a facelift, and not all iterations were on sale at the same time.

“Nondescript” – really?? Are you not seeing the front end? It’s fecking hideous! If only it were nondescript. I think it looks better than I expected, especially in red. Maybe it’s just me but in white I couldn’t look at it without thinking of this!
I thought about buying a GTI last year when I moved to NZ. In the end decided it probably wasn’t worthwhile and went for a 1.5 TSi. I’m glad I did. The TSi is sort of white goods motoring. Practical, just enough zip to get away from the lights and has technology. But for driving in the city and very occasional trips into the countryside it is perfectly adequate. A GTi would have been a waste of money as for 99% of my driving it would make no difference.
