Gran Turismo 7 trailer | Time for Coffee?
The real driving simulator is back, and in some style - take a look here
Even after more than two decades and six iterations, the announcement of a new Gran Turismo game is enormous news for gamers - and car culture as a whole, really. There are entire generations of car fans for whom GT shaped their automotive taste, opening their eyes to vehicles they never knew of, and that's an extraordinary achievement for a PlayStation game.
For GT7, fans of the early games appear to be in for a treat. In this trailer, we not only see a GT Town to navigate that's redolent of the classics, but also a Sunday Cup, Clubman Cup, FF Challenge and - get this - Trial Mountain, looking quite spectacular. It's like 1999, but in 4K. For PlayStation 5. Sony says the game will build on 22 years of experience "to bring you the best features from the history of the franchise." Which sounds pretty damn good, right?
Other big news from the trailer? The cars, of course. There are some exciting new Porsches, for starters, including a 917 and a Carrera GT, the BAC Mono and the Mazda RX-Vision recently introduced in a GT Sport update. They're beautifully rendered - how else would GT do it? - and even sound exciting in the trailer. Great news.
Understandably, the YouTube comments are already jolly excited about GT7. It's being called "Gran Turismo 4 The Sequel", "the Gran Turismo I was missing" and "this is the kind of GT that we miss". The trailer has had more than 800,000 views in less than 12 hours - this is, to put it mildly, quite a big announcement. The game is due with the PlayStation 5 later in 2020, which is at least some good news for this wretched year. Dear Father Christmas, we've been really good and stuck by lockdown rules, honest...
hmm a few things for me about that promo - the interior engine sound wasnt great, very tinny - perhaps it was the car that chose - and also nothing i can see of old cars to buy - remember the old GT games you could hunt around and buy really old crapola cars and mod them up to 700hp and race them - loved doing that.....
the ps5 console itself looks ugly IMHO !

I did buy my Sega Saturn pretty much as soon as it was released though. I was really into gaming back then though, I'm not quite as fussed now as I used to be.
The final fast left-right has been replaced by a slow chicane. Not only will you lose that challenge at the end of the lap, but the loss of speed over the start/finish line will take away the challenge of the fast sweepers at the start of the lap, the left-right-left up and over the hill - was always fun to try and see how much speed you could carry through those, not hitting the brakes until the first tunnel.
What do we reckon, £500+ for the PS5?
If true, I won't be getting one anytime soon - there were some pics on twitter of the pricing but I can't find them in my feed.
