I enjoy Car wizard, wrench everyday etc. The more hands on type of things.

For reviews, Harry’s Garage, Tyrells classic workshop late brake show and Jayemm.

The others I don’t really bother with IE carwow, yianni what’s his face. Then there’s the proper chavtastic barrel scraping which is frankly horrific.
Dannydc2
Harry
Number27 (although I hate the BX!)
Late Brake
Stanceworks
Jayemm if I like the car

Danny is absolutely brilliant, because he's naturally good in front of a camera, and very real, no fake persona.
I'd laugh if he's actually really posh .
He’s actually from Surrey and his dad owns a tie factory.

For goodness sake, how many times do I need to reiterate the following:

YOU, ARE, GIVING, YOUR, PRECIOUS, TIME, TO, THESE, PEOPLE.

SPEND, IT, WISELY.

The only channels worth their salt are;

Harry, Garage & Farm
Pistonheads
Carfection
SCD
Petrolicious
Tyrrell's Garage
Goodwood
Late Brake Show
Autocar (sometimes)
EVO (sometimes)

WE, ARE, ONLY, HERE, ON, EARTH, FOR, A, FLEETING, MOMENT.

THINK ON.

I just can't handle that accent. It's like a comedy character from Harry Enfield.
Sounds posh to me, but then most of my mates are from the Black Country. hehe

I like how he is not especially a car enthusiast so his reviews often pick up different things to other people. Also, coming from an acting background he performs well on camera.

As others have said, many channels suffer from over familiarisation so you can get bored, and even if the channel evolves then that runs the risk of focusing on a new topic that you might not be so interested in.

That's why the channels that seem to have lasting appeal are the ones that post less frequently, so they don't wear out their welcome - and probably why traditional TV shows only appear on your screens a few weeks of the year.

You spend quite a lot of your precious time making this point repeatedly on this thread to people that aren’t really taking any notice, is that wise?

Is it me or are all of them boring now? I started off with Shmee, TGE TV, SOL, Archie Hamilton, STG and Seb Delaney then went completely the other way and started watching Hub Nut and Furious Driving. I can't be the only one as the views for Seb and SOL seem way down on what they used to be. I lost interest in STG when he did his drive the world thing in his 911.

Next it was B for Build, Tavarish, Hoovies garaage and Samcrac before findind Goonzquad. I actually watched Goonzquad for a long time until they started building their house and it got boring. I have tried to watch them again now they have started working on cars again but it doesn't hold my interest.

Currently I am watching Salvage Rebuilds UK, Number 27. Mat Armstrong and Chops Garage but all of those are not the must watches they used to be.

Anyone else just bored with all of them?

Great post. I'm the exact same as you in regards to what channels I now watch. I stopped watching Goonzquad when they started to build their house, plus I was getting tired of ...Damnnn Dude ...all the time.

Car Throttle has lost its way lately. I used to watch this religiously but now I tend to leave them.

Ashville is my favourite at the moment.

Car Throttle needs to ditch Alex. Jack and Ethan make a good double team, and they don't need the mighty midget just making snarky comments all the time, and destroying things. Their podcasts were awful, the whole Mike Brewer bit was cringeworthy, I can't remember the last time I saw a CT and thought "Yes I must make time to watch that", instead of "yeah that'll kill 20 mins".

I have a feeling a lot of viewers of the regular channels like Shmee, JWW, STG, Hoovies, etc, are suffering from viewers burnout - myself included.

Used to enjoy and watch every episode of the aforementioned but I'm very very selective about what i watch now as most of these don't do it for me anymore.

I'm more likely to watch Harry's Garage, Tyrells Classic Workshop, The Late Brake Show or Misha Charoudin before any of the above nowadays as i prefer quality to quantity and the surprise that each video brings!

Of the regular ones though, I'm more likely to watch STG, Danny DC2, Number 27 and Jayemm before I'll watch a content from Shmee, JWW or SOL. I just find their format Wash, Rinse and Repeat at the moment!

That MR2 thing just seemed like a whole lot of effort and expense for something that's pretty useless.

Just been doing a bit of Socialblade research for someone, looking at the last month's views for the automotive channels. Makes for interesting reading if you're into that sort of thing:

Shmee150 + Shmuseum - 7m
DDE - 13.5m
Hoovie's Garage - 4.5m
Stradman - 9.5m
Cletus McFarland - 22m
Doug DeMuro - 20.5m
SoL - 550k
Seen Through Glass - 840k
WhistlinDiesel - 32m

What's most interesting is that all of them bar WhistlinDiesel have seen views decline in the last few months, so there's definitely a trend. General concensus is that it's the algorithm changing to promote other types of content, when it has been heavily pushing automotive for a long time.

This can be seen though, there have been variousl trends that i've noticed being offered to me without previously watching it. There was all the stupid 'prank' stuff, then the DIY and small house stuff, then lots more automotive stuff, it all just goes in cycles.

Must be very worrying if YT is your primary source of income though, I'm not sure how well i'd cope not knowing what my future income would be especially if there were large finance payments involved.

WhistinDiesel's numbers are just staggering though, given US CPM's he must be bringing in well over $100k per month.

I wonder if the YouTube algorithm pushing very frequent uploads will be counterproductive for both producers and YouTube themselves in the long run.

I'd rather watch fewer, better videos than loads and loads of filler and the pace of output is relentless - burning out the content providers and also the viewers.

I still watch every single Harry's Garage, but his channel is like a weekly TV programme and most importantly I can keep up with it.

With the other channels there is so much coming out that I can't keep up, and as soon as the thread is broken it's hard to be bothered to go back.

Also it might have something to do with Climate Change being a hot topic and a lot of adverts are centered around it, can hardly have an ad from a company about making the world a greener place before the start of a Shmee/Harrys Garage/STG/SOL video of them driving a v12 or high polluter car.

I concur with both previous comments above about the algorithm pushing other content.

I've found myself on occasions searching for Automotive Channels that I'd subscribed to in the past but no longer, just to see if they're still creating content when i haven't seen their content being suggested to me anymore.

It makes sense anyway for the algorithm to push other content in order to give others a chance.

A good algorithm moves with the audience. I think many people are realising that once you're past a certain age, watching daily or near daily content is impossible timewise, and you get bored pretty quickly too. Youtube is evolving, much like the audience is.

All the channels I actually watch (non are automotive) have much slower release schedules, or even no schedule at all, and these are some of the biggest channels on youtube, eg kurzgesagt, mkdhb, wendover productions etc.

Agreed, plus to see him destroy all the old parts he removed for no reason was madness, they could have sold or given away the old parts.
