Hi all so I have a car for sale, details etc are irrelevant but its too big for my misses.
I think this is a scam so am fully up for some fun to wind them up but wanted some wide input.

So i recieved this reply, car is on autotrader and gumtree...

Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 2.0 BlueHDi Exclusive+ 5dr
Colour: Black
Price: £7950
Mileage: 70000

From: roy w
Do you still have this for sale? email me with full details (car present working condition) along with recent pictures, contact me directly at this g- mail ( r y w a t 6 3 at g m a i l. c o m ) for swift response

I sent Hi all the info and pics are on gumtree or (link to my autotrader add) as there is no more to add.

The responce was....

Thanks for the response,I am happy to know the vehicle is still available,I can see from what is said on the Ad and from your response that the vehicle is in good condition,I asked for details and pictures again after seeing the ad to be sure about it as I will not be able to come in person to inspect and so will need to know everything about the vehicle before agreeing to buying and I want to be sure there is no more to know about the car?

I am a private dealer based in Dublin but I will arrange pick up/collection if a deal goes through ...

What is the final price???I like to know what your final price/offer is so we don't haggle back and forth on the price and so I am hoping I can get a good deal and no need haggling back and forth on price/offer.

Once we agree a deal on the vehicle,I will arrange for the payment to be sent to you and payment will be made to you via PayPal and the pick up can be scheduled after the funds are received.

My responce..
So as we all know about all the internet scams and oh i will pay xxx but i will pay over so you pay my shipper etc please prove me wrong , sorry.
Can you give me details of your vehicles for sale, a phone number so i can send what's app videos too please.
As a car dealer you will know the trade price and the retail price already and that the consecutive reg same spec and miles just sold at £9500 on auto trader.

Anyone want to add the fun

when they use verbose sentences, you know it is a scam, just ignore.

If you have to ask then that itself answers the question.

Yep, clear scam.

He pays via paypal, car collected, then claims the money back through paypal. No amount of proof the car was collected will wash, the money will go back.

Sadly these scams are too frequent, and they must work or they would stop bothering.

Like the poster above me said - I can’t emphasise enough DON’T DO IT it’s a scam.

The fact is PayPal sides with the buyer, who can claim all kinds of lies that they never received the goods, even when they have the car in their possession.

The refund policy is why they’ll push PayPal. If you wanted to flush them out for some reason, ask why bank transfer isn’t an option.

Exactly, it's so blatantly obviously a scam, no buyer ever talks like that. With the greatest of respect to the OP, don't even give it the time of day.

I stopped at PayPal - the scammers friend. Hijacked accounts funded with stolen cards. You have the money at first, then the banks claw it back from PayPal who claw it back from you. You have no car and owe PayPal money (although you can ignore them).

Similar here, thanks for posting. A search brought up this thread

first e-mail, via autotrader

Hello, is it still available? could you email me with the full detailed descriptions, present working condition details along with recent photos. send details to email attached but with asterisks in it

follow up e-mail

Thanks for the response,I am happy to know the vehicle is still available,I can see from what is said on the Ad and from your response that the vehicle is in good condition,I asked for details and pictures again after seeing the ad to be sure about it as I will not be able to come in person to inspect and so will need to know everything about the vehicle before agreeing to buying and I want to be sure there is no more to know about the car? If we agree a deal on the vehicle, I will arrange for the payment to be sent to you and payment will be made via PayPal, you don't need to worry about the PayPal charges for the payment, I will cover the cost for the transfer/payment so you get the full funds for the car paid to you

Pick up/delivery arrangement can be scheduled after the funds are received and cleared with you.

Even though cars aren't covered under paypal, there are other ways to scam via paypal, I've been caught out before, so always check your actual account dashboard, rather than just trusting an e-mail from an illicit source, which looks like, but isn't, from paypal.

I just tried to read the email in an Irish accent and it didn’t work. Then tried again with a Nigerian one and Bingo! Definitely a scam.

Damn,

I just got a bite from my Autotrader advert. The wording is EXACTLY the same as your OP.

Ah well, back to waiting.

Update,

I've just been in touch with autotrader and I can confirm that this is a known fraudster. Anyone seeing this wording or similar - STAY WELL CLEAR!

Cheeky thread revival!

Looks like these scams continue....

Helping daughter sell her car (Fiesta, on AutoTrader)

Got AutoTrader email expressing interest.....

"Hi, I'm interested in this vehicle if it is still available? contact me ( r * y * a * k * y * 6 * 5 * * @ * g * m * a * i * l. * c * o * m * )"

I reply on Autotrader. They ignore that.

Curious why they would take it outside - thanks to this thread, I know.....

Replied using a temp email: got a fast reply:

"Thanks for the response, happy to know the vehicle is still available. I would appreciate it if you could email me with the full detailed description email detailing the overall present condition (engine/working condition) in and out of this vehicle (perhaps things not already mentioned in the (Ad) along with the latest/recent pictures. I am asking for this details to be sure of the condition (even though I have seen the Ad) because I will not be able to inspect in person and so I will need to know everything about it as am interested in a possible purchase of this vehicle and I need to be sure that there is no more to know about the car as it is now. I am based in Dublin but I can arrange pick up/collection if a deal goes through."

So I gently & politely pointed Ryan Kelly to this thread & suggest they respond on AutoTrader.

Received this reply:

"Or perhaps you fk off if you wish? You didn see that option ?"

What a delightful fella. What is the matter with some people?
I guess he is a sad criminal, so daft question hehe
