Counter post!

I will kick of with the Lexus LS400. Boring looking car with one of the best V8's ever built, seamless performance, so comfortable and surprisingly good on fuel on a road trip.

The original Ford Puma for me. Owned one for a year, I’m glad I couldn’t see it from the drivers seat but it was a great drive.

I'll pitch in my Impreza WRX wagon. They sent the professional styling team home, spent all the money on the drivetrain and let the work experience kid do the styling.

FK2/FK8 Civic Type R would be in this category too surely?

Pre facelift P11 Primera. Looks like your fridge with a body kit but an absolute joy to drive compared with the godawful Sierra and Cavs of the day. The GT was really special but even the pov spec ones were great.

Fiat Panda 100HP.

Looks like a naff little shopping cart, no one would reasonably expect it to be a good car to drive. Also easy to park, fits in small gaps, decent amount of room and cheap to run.

The later Civic Type-R has to be there for me. It must be a proper laugh to drive, but the exterior is just too much for me. Newest one looks far more subtle.

Subaru Legacy. Near 300hp and 4wd in the early 90's, 20+ years before BMW was doing it.

Nissan Stagea 260RS but atleast you can bolt an R34 front end on.

Looks like it's going to be automotive porridge designed mainly for transporting Tesco bags and biffing kerbs or bollards at low speed during parking manoeuvres.

Turns out to be one of the most enjoyable things you can be in on a typical British B-road, a lesson in how careful tuning can make even humble components feel well-balanced and great to drive.

That Fiesta didn't look rubbish, this one though...

I can't say whether this one was great or not, never been in one of this generation.

Similarly nice steer. They don't feel as "lively" IMO, the engines are gruffer and less willing to rev, and while they managed to do a huge amount with the suspension tuning the gearshift definitely reminds you the car has its origin in the dark days of '80s Ford.

Still a lot better than they look!

Weird.

no. no. no and then no some more. Unpleasant driving position, boat like suspension, awful hard plastics and mismatched interiors (even from the factory). They're just rubbish. Mine lasted all of a handful of weeks before I moved it on and wrote it off as the mistake it was.

Good starter for ten as to why language changes and will continue to do so:

Another good term to Google is 'sociolinguistics'.

If you'd paid attention in English at school you'd already know the answer.

We obtained a PT Cruiser Cabriolet for a banger rally. It wasn't in bad condition.

I think it's the only car I have ever driven with literally zero redeeming features.

I'd pigeonhole it under 'Cars that look, terrible and are terrible'.

Who signed off those rear lights?
