Awkwardly positioned accelerator pedal
Discussion
Recently acquired a Vauxhall Insignia after 12½ years of Rover 75 ownership, and I have to say I love it... except for one thing.
The pedals (automatic, so only two) are a little too far to the left, so my right foot wants to fall off the right hand side of the accelerator, meaning I have to keep tension in my leg all the time to hold it on the pedal
It's quite annoying, and I can't believe I'm the only person (with this or any other model of car) with the problem - does anybody know of a work around? Like moving or bending the pedal, extending the bit you put your foot on, or... anything
Thanks

Best workaround..... don't buy a Vauxhall.
I had a Vauxhall Grandland X 1.2 turbo as a hire car. Worst car I've ever driven. Even if you could forgive it's gutless engine and awful looks, it's ergonomics were woeful. Seats uncomfortable and the pedals were all tiny and spaced so close together you could barely use the accelerator or brake without mashing both.

Why post this? Its utterly irrelevant to the question asked by the OP.I had a Vauxhall Grandland X 1.2 turbo as a hire car. Worst car I've ever driven. Re the original problem, you used to be able to buy wide aluminium pedal plates from places like Demon Tweeks which you just bolted on to the original pedal, maybe you can still buy similar.
When I was treading the mill in my previous life in the motor trade the dealer I worked at did adaptations for disabled drivers, mostly for Motab customers.
One of the most common was pedal mods, usually a kit to allow autos to have 2 accelerator pedals, one each side of the brake pedal. These 2 pedals were hinged and connected by a short cable so the driver could choose which to use, one would be in the down position while the other would hinge up out of the way.
Quite often this would involve a fitting session with the driver to fettle the best position for the pedals to suit.
Sometimes we would also modify the existing pedals to sort out issues such as the OP is experiencing, maybe find and talk to a local disabled adaptions specialist.
