RS gets a younger brother
Discussion
Sorry for the long post, very quiet day at work...
About a year ago I posted my exhileration of driving a 964RS, my first 911, for the first time, known by quite a few of you as Domsters old hedge seeking missile. 2 weeks after a 3 year rebuild to Cup spec the little RS was weaned back onto track at Silverstone. What an epic little car. It's taken everything a season of 10 or so trackdays can throw at it with nothing but oil/pad/tyre changes and just keeps comming back for more GT3RS and Caterham worrying . (Admitedly one spectacularly poor shift from me grabbing 5th instead of 3rd has knackered something - good excuse for a sequential 6sp !)
Owning a 911 was always something of a dream but the RS has exceeded any expectation 20 years of car mags had given me; no written word can convey the tingle of excitment from driving a car seemingly connected directly to your spinal cord. As the year progressed and under the instruction of Stuart Turvey teaching me to drive all over again I became totally addicted; that tingle, the forces, the speed, the noise, the feedback, wonderful.
To cut a long story slightly less long, my addiction seems to be getting worse, about 5 hours after hearing rg's beautiful 993 gt2 was for sale, I was significantly poorer.
WOW. The GT2 is RS distilled, with afterburners. Its a well used phrase but you really do light the blue touch paper and hold on. Oh My God. Its faster than my bike in a straight line. Almost any over enthusiastic acceleration in any conditions kicks the tail wide (9" left usually) until the diff bites, rear hunkers down and all xxx bhp pull the planet toward you. 99% of the tactility of the RS with a Saturn V strapped on the back. I had hoped after a month of ownership to have something sensible to say; all i can say is you have to try it to beleive it. I just can't wait to get him on track. Brutal. I've taken more sunny days off this month to go for a blast than I have had off all year.
Happy New Year

You must have been a very good boy for Santa to bring you that fantastic machine!
Is your 964 RS LHD or RHD with PAS?

my GT2 laughs in the face of GT2996....different drive completely...TT again no wayyyyyyy..when i went over to the ring in the 993 GT2 a guy called DMC from puregt.com said he was gonna kick my ass down the autobahn.....HE DIDNT ! he was in a 996TT tuned..quick but GT2 kicks ass.....a complete pleasure to drive and own....i love it...But what has to be taken into consideration its not just about performance for me its about owning the finest 911 porsche ever built and like i say at 550+bhp...its crazy...798nm of torque is simply mind blowing.Twas a chilhood dream for me looking through the books years ago at a silver 993GT2 !!...and yeah i am lucky..worked hard mind you !!

Francis it's the only time I've seen a hint of emotion in poor old IMOM's eyes when we sat listening to you and the GT2 burble away from Silverstone. I suspect if you hadn't been so quick of the blocks he'd have kept it.
You've got the ultimate anhydrous Porker there - enjoy.
