Last night in the Pub after the curry, Bliarout made a point about PH being a large brain that could get pretty much any question answered.
Which makes it a very valuable thingy.

So here are a couple of moon related ponderings.

While driving home westwards tonight, I noticed the moon looked pretty spectacular.

First question is...what is the average temperature on the moon? and how much does the the temp change from the dark to the light side?

Secondly...say there was never a moon. What effect would that have had on the shape of land masses on Earth. What effect do tidal changes have on weather/cloud formation.

Very true.

Unless it's facts you're after...

The tides would only be created by the sun (and to an even lesser degree, other planets). We probably wouldn't have as much tectonic activity, and we may actually be colder (since the Earth won't be pulled in different directions).

so the moon has nothing to do with tides???

PH can't necessarily get you the answer to all questions but it may be able to give you the tools to find the answer.

For example, buy Does Anything Eat Wasps and read pages 132-134.

I could type it all out for you but I can't be bothered. Sorry. Didn't BlairOut mention the laziness too?

and the typos/spelling?

It is to do with both the Sun and the moon (the moon mostly) but if there was no moon, it'd only leave the sun's influence.
