Witness my "prepared to pay a lot" comment. At least from W & W though you can usually be assured of the cars being as good as they come. £25k - with the list of niggles that car has, alright they say the paintwork will be made perfect before sale, but the interior marks and no service history on a Japan import? Im sorry, but with the best will in the world I cant see £25k in that car, hell and Ive got a vested interest in talking prices of special edition 'grales up at the moment!
Still, if that is what the FE cars go for, then that is what they go for but I cant see the value in the car.

dont forget the evo1 on pistonheads going for £40k at the moment!
The only people who know a dealer edition are other integrale owners and well-read petrol heads.
£25k is a lot and yes theres going to be another few £k on top of that like all grales. Would I pay that much? Only if I had a lot of cash. I think I'd prefer to pick up a well sorted regualar evo 2 for half the price and get it sprayed up in the same colour! Whos to know?? wink

I saw the £40k car, I couldnt even begin to articulate an argument for that!

Final Edition is over rated. Perhaps it is the name? If it was called 'Japan Edition' would it be worth as much? Also more likely to have stress cracks?

Dealer Collections are much nicer I think, lovely tan leather and Euro spec headlights. Slightly different shade of red as well I believe.

Get a DC or Lagos and keep the rest of the cash for maintenance.

Club hifi or Club Italia are the most desirable imho.

If you do opt for a jap import, check thoroughly for any crash damage. Ive heard horror stories of poor repairs.

Well exactly!

My VY has the tan leather high backed Recaros, etc without the stigma of being a Cat car (and yes EVO IIs carry a stigma as far a Im concerned).

As I said before, I have a vested interest in talking values of the special editions up, but I just cannot see the massive extra value in the silly priced cars. Speaking as a private punter also I kinda regard the prices as a little insulting. I know the car isnt worth that, you know the car isnt worth that so why try and bullshit me with it? Now if it was a S4 and you were talking proper money that would be a different story, there is obvious *extra* value there over an EVO, but doubling the price of a decent EVO I or even EVO IIs, just for one of the last editions? Sorry, cant see it.

I know it's wrong & that they are indeed a mad price and that christ knows how they been treated during regular midnight runs up some far eastern mountain and that there likely to have feck all history but can't help craving an FE badly.... I know that it's probably only the colour & dark wheel combo (which makes the craving even more sad).. but I still want one rolleyes.. help..

Tanc Barratt is also a serious knowledge on integrales, in fact that's where the other specialists get their parts from.
Worth a call.

I must admit I can't see the value added with the EVO 2 vs the EVO 1.
Even more so with the limited edition EVO 2 versions.
Other than the the fairly incidental high back leather seats, bigger wheels, specific colour etc on the EVO 2, it is identical to the EVO 1.

If it is an important point, (to me it is) it is the EVO 1 that inherits the actual rallying heritage not the EVO 2. The EVO 2 was never rallied the EVO 1 was.
The EVO 1 has the homologation turbo the EVO 2 does not.

Just an observation from a new owner delighted with his EVO 1.

NOTE my EVO 1 was bought as a preference to the EVO 2. If I had wanted an
EVO 2 I could have afforded it. The EVO1 represents good VFM and of course lays claim to a phenominal rallying heritage.confused

Really, why would they do that? Do you mean 2nd hand bits?

Evo 2 gets my vote, nothing wrong with the Evo 1 I just prefer the big seats, standard air-con and the other nice little touches, like 16" wheels, alloy fuel cap and leather momo steering wheel. Granted you could find one with air-con/big seats and add the other bits to your Evo 1 if you wanted to.

The main differences can be found here in the cars and variants section.
http://www.whalley-integrale.uk.com/

Note that the Evo 2 has more power and torque. Lancia took the opportunity to replace the turbo and make the car more road biased as it was not going to be homologated.

I was happy to live with the 'stigma' of an Evo 2.

I agree the special edition Evo 2's are just nice colours mainly and a few bits thrown on like starter button and 'navigators footrest' (wow!)

'I was happy to live with the 'stigma' of an Evo 2'.

No stigma implied, just an observation and a reference to heritage.

My point is this, are the 'goodies' on the EVO 2 really worth the apparent circa £4-6k difference over an EVO 1?

Only joking about the sigma thing.

In response to your question about whether the goodies are worth an extra £4-6k - I suppose the answer is no!

Is the Evo 2 a "better" car than the Evo 1? I haven't driven an Evo 1 so can't comment with authority.

Coming back round to the original post, is the final edition worth the extra -no way! Somebody out there is buying them though.

DJC, how much are you selling your Verde York for?
