No, really, lift and escalator specialists, called, Schindlers Lifts - you couldn't make that one up...

www.schindlerlifts.co.uk/

Anyone know of any more amusing or ironic company names?
What's amusing or ironic about that one?
Schindlers Lifts..the company
Schindler's List...the film ?
He's trying to make out that I find 'Schindlers List' amusing - don't stoop to his level.

falcemob - its just a name!
I'm not making out anything, I would have found it mildly amusing if the lift company had made a play on words from the film, but I seem to remember Schindler Lifts long before the film was made. Maybe Spielberg was having a joke when he named the film.
Falce, the Book (Schindlers Ark, as previously said)the film was produced from was about for many a year before Spielberg made the film - which referred to the list of names Oskar Schindler had produced. First time i noticed the lift maker, made me think of the closeness to the book, and the irony of close name association.
Is that irony? I don't think so.

Wang computers (remeber them) called their technical help desk "Wang Care" Oh how we laughed when they used to answer the phone..."Hello,Wang Care...." smile
And at one point they were close to releasing a PC called the Wang King, until someone pointed out the potential embarassment to their MD biggrin

Some of the following are fake and/or deliberate, but funny.

1. A site called ‘Who Represents‘ where you can find the name of the agent that represents a celebrity. Their domain name… wait for it… is
www.wepresents.com

2. Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at
www.expertsexchange.com

3. Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island at
www.penisland.net

4. Need a therapist? Try Therapist Finder at
www.therapistfinder.com

5. Then of course, there’s the Italian Power Generator company…
www.powergenitalia.com

6. And now, we have the Mole Station Native Nursery, based in New South Wales:
www.molestationnursery.com

7. If you’re looking for computer software, there’s always
www.ipanywhere.com

8. Welcome to the First Cumming Methodist Church. Their website is
www.cummingfirst.com

9. Then, of course, there’s these brainless art designers, and their whacky website:
www.speedofart.com

10. Want to holiday in Lake Tahoe? Try their brochure website at
www.gotahoe.com

yes

Dad has a photograph of what must be the biggest bill board advert in the world someplace in California simply stating "Wang Cares."

The also had a prototype product call King and an employee award "the cup" if legend is to be believed.

I often see tankers that go around emptying cesspits. The company is "Suck Cess".

Incidentally, we have Schindlers lifts in our buildings. I pointed it out to work colleagues when I started working here 6 years ago. Strangely, no one else had made the connection. They clearly lack the PH sense of humour.
There is a company in Buck / Middx who have on the back of their st trucks "every you do is driven by us"

There is a slightly sad irony... I've got an apartment in Spain in a building where the majority of the owners are British Jews. You can guess who supplied the lifts wink

Slightly OT, but quite funny. Someone sent me a photo a while back of a German tourist bus with Big Hairy Fanny on the side... wish I could find it. One more; I had to take my daughter to hospital last Saturday. Shift board in the waiting room listed 1400-1600 Dr Reckless eek

My favourite is the German coaches that say 'F*CKER' on the side in huge writing. rofl
I believe the miserable F*ckers have changed either their name or at least the way it is written. Quality though, especially when there's a whole coachload of F*ckers
