Hi,

Mrs R5 just told me that the check emissions warning is being displayed on the dash.

Any ideas of things to look at / check? Apart from the emissions! Would a diagnostic be a better thing to do first off?

Thanks

Check the EGR valve on the back of the engine, they get clogged up with crap over time and need cleaning.

Just to add; it was the EGR valve - it was unserviceable so had to order a new one £103 which I suppose ain't bad for piece of mind when having them jammed open can boil the engine oil and pop it.

They do fail aswell, the mk3 clio Euro4 engines (don't know if the new modus has the same one) have a different design for the EGR valve and are supposed to be more reliable, but as always they're not compatible with the older design.

Suggest you check it at every service and just make sure its not being clogged.

Yeah I'm going to see if its worth cleaning on a service, the newer 06 onwards do have a better valve. This ones lasted 50k miles so if the next one lasts that long I'm happy.
