Need to remove part of a board already on the wall (tiles brought the rest down). So, I need to cut the board back to the studs, but how? Can't use a knife as I need to take it back halfway along the actual studs. Can you get a blade to fit a grinder for this sort of thing?

Cheers.

Dusty way of doing it but use a stone blade and it will cut through it like a hot knife through butter

Yup yes Stanley knife. Use a hammer and nail to find centre of stud, mark with pencil and cut with Stanley, or should I say, score with Stanley and gradually cut deeper with each stroke.

Optional use of a straight-edge but mind the thumbs.

Got a circular saw? You could set the depth to 12mm and go straight through it. biggrin

Yeah, have a circular saw, but have banned from using it! Just got the jigsaw out and was a right old laugh. Cut it back to the studs, and will use stan for the rest. You should see the state of the bathroom....she's gonna go ballistic when she gets home....good fun though!

Thanks for all your input.

Wise not to use the circular saw, you could easy hit a nail, a screw or yourself.

Recipricating saw with short blade.
Or if you don't have one a dry wall saw.
A dry wall saw will make less mess.

If you dont want to damage the stud which I think is your point, a Stanley knife used with two hands, and cut again and again until your go all the way through.
Jobs a good un
