Thought this was quite interesting, partly the sheer novelty of seeing bikes discussed by mainstream media!

I don't suppose the ridiculous new test helped matters either..
This is exactly what the powers-at-be want!

My local dealer said he's having a really good year, but he might just be saying that!

Yeah gotta say that doesn't sound exactly like a 'benchmark' bike ad does it??

Sorry to say, but he's not. I check everything from July to July, all the different segments, YTD vs. YTD. And Honda in the UK is down everywhere.

YTD for ex. -18.9% (Jan-Jul -> 08 vs 09)
July : -35.8% (08 vs. 09)

Is that just bikes sales, or Honda in general though?

The Guardian said:
Jacek Rzeznik, an investment banker, posted a sale ad for his Triumph Daytona 675 Sports Bike on the Bloomberg financial information service on 29 June. With an asking price of £5,400, by Friday last week he had received no enquiries. But he had three offers for his BMW car. "I guess motorcycles are more of a luxury than cars," Rzeznik said.
Anyone want a 675? Sounds like he needs the cash if he is selling his Beemer and bike - go on, make a cheeky offer wink

Plus to be fair, very rarely do I ever hear a trader saying business is poor. Oh except when you're trying to sell you're bike to a dealer. On those occasions business is always awful. biggrin

The Guy at the dealership at Three Cross made no attempt to sell me the Street Triple when I sat on it on Saturday.

Even when he could see I had my own bike and watch me park up.

I think some of these dealers need to wake up and smell the coffee when lady riders arrive at at bike shops.
He didnt even say about taking it out for a spin or anything , could not even tell me what ins group it was !

On the plus side I sat on an un lowered one and it was fab

biggrin

UK :

All PTW above 51cc:
YTD 09 vs. 08 : -13.8%
July 08 vs 09 : -24.7

In order to compare fairly (the first Honda figures were including their small 50cc scooter, which are reported correctly but due to lots of small Chinese imports market totals are not as reliable)

Honda:
YTD : -18.9%
July : -36.1%

I took a test ride of a Sprint ST on Saturday. It made me a bit horny. I was very surprised. It's like a big Daytona.
