V8 Jaguar XF Racer Makes Competitive Debut

Italian team creates what could be the world's prettiest touring car. Can we have one please?

Is this even prettier than A Quattroporte?...
Is this even prettier than A Quattroporte?...
Jaguar: PH has a request for you. Can we have a factory version of this racer, please? This rather tasty touring car has been developed by Italian racing outfit Ferlito Motors for the International Superstars tin-top series.

For those who don't know (which until we saw these pics included us) the Superstars series is an Italian/European take on the Aussie Supercars concept, where simplish rear-drive V8 cars battle it out. Other entrants in the series include A Maserati Quattroporte, a Chrysler 300C and a gaggle of 5-series BMWs.

...We think so...
...We think so...
The Ferlito Motors XF made its debut at the International Superstars season finale at Kyalami (neither in Italy nor Europe, but there you go...) at the end of November. Okay, so it ended the race 12th of 12 finishers, but it did at least survive to the chequered flag and we reckon it even outshines the Quattroporte racer in the beauty stakes.

Pretty car agreed. Competitive debut? Last place doesn't really support the headline!

Prettiest? Hell no!
Id happily pick a Super touring era over that! Ooooh the Nissan Primera!

I have to agree, that's a stunning looking car. The XFR, although not as 'posh' as the Quattroporte or as high tech as the M5, it is by far my favourite hot saloon and it suits that race suit rather well.

Nice but all the pictures are from the same angle!

Would it perchance be good looking because of the lack of a rear three-quarters view? Or does the big wing help obscure what is (IMHO) the XF's least likeable angle?

Edited to nod sagely in the direction of MrTappets

If you look closely at one of the pics you'll see an E39 5-series - guess that could be an M5, but otherwise it's V8s only, so no E60 M5s in the strictest sense of the word...

It's a Jag therefore I want it to win, but pretty? Not from where I'm sitting.

The regular XF is only just starting to grow on me, but this looks all wrong.

Having stared a while longer it's definitely not helped by the Italian colours. Racings jags need to British Racing Green, not that fetid colour.

The Primera had the most potent BTCC 2 litre 4 pot ever, 325Bhp if EDL are to be believed.

I also admit it, I prefer the Super touring cars of the BTCC era- although
for me, its all about the Prodrive Mundaneo, in Rapid fit livery (yellow and blue), on the back straight at Croft please
