Hi all I noticed HPI offer driveaway, 7 days of insurance with any HPI check. Ive read through it all and it seems simple enough. Is there any catch?

Because all I want is my dads Alfa Spyder for the weekend so £19.99 to insure it for two days doesn't seem bad, I cant use temp cover either because I am not 24 yet.

I'm sure there will be stipulations in the smallprint and a very hard sell when you register...

Top paragraph from the HPI link:
Driveaway is an insurance product from Aviva that entitles you to free 7 days comprehensive insurance when you do an HPI Check and then go onto purchase the vehicle.

Would that be an issue?

well essentially we have bought the car? But there's no stipulation to use aviva so just say want to look else where then never insure it?

It's a good idea. We use it at work. But the first question they ask is will you be the owner of the vehicle. It's all about principal of indemnity. You can not insure something in which you have no financial interest. In this case you don't. Your dad does. If you crash it and claim you are benifiting from insurance and that Is not allowed.

So is there anyway around it then? All I want is temp cover for one day. Just to get some where then get back within less then an all round 20mile distance.

If you tell me the circumstances, I might be able to help.

have you or your dad actually rung your or his insurers and asked for you to be added to his policy or his car to be added to your policy for a day? I used to use my sister's barge every now and again and it cost between ten and twenty quid each time (depending on duration).
