[NOTE: Video is Psuedo HD, not from HD source but encoded by youtube at 720p]

As all V8 supercar fans will know the Aussie V8s will be at Yas Marina in 2 weeks time.

As a taster here is some HD onboard footage from one of the V8 Supercar ME drivers Raed Raffii from this last weekend races there.

The ME V8s will be there in 2 weeks time also supporting the Aussies.

If you've never seen the Yas Marina circuit from onboard you should definitely watch this video, the circuit is fabulous.

There is also a compilation from the very first race at the Yas Marina circuit which again was the V8 Supercars ME. The video includes onboards from various drivers and external footage, all to the sounds of Areosmith who played live after the event.

If you enjoy these videos please Rank (5* would be nice smile) and favorite to raise their exposure on Youtube.

Also, lots of other onboards from the V8s on my channel http://www.youtube.com/maxxuk

You won't get it any better than SD whatever you do, so anything which says 'HD' is just plain misleading tongue out

'HQ' is what you meant to put, I'm sure... wink

Freddy,

Yes you are correct. The video started out as DVD quality footage from the Race-Technology VIDEO4. I then cropped it, stretched it a little and encoded to MP4 @ 4000k (just to save time, source would look better at 6-8 but not much to tell on YT). Youtube does make a better video than if Id just uploaded the DVD quality and spec file plus widescreen looks better.

A lot of so called HD movies are pretty much the same, just DVD spec upscaled to 720p.

Once the bulletcam world catches up to HD then i'll have proper HD footage for you. Race Tech already have the firmware in place and the processor grunt required for when the cameras become available.

Huh...They manage to get themselves halfway round the world for a race but as of this week have canned coming to Western Australia unless our little circuit gives in to demands ($$$$$) that Eccles and Spank would be ashamed of.

Is it just me or did half those drivers (when watching the on-board stuff), look to be totally incapable of controlling a car yikes

Plus, spending most of their time with one hand on the wheel and one on the gearstick? Im hoping these were just the Abu rich kids messing around near the tail end!?

Dom,

You'd be referring to Abdulaziz Al-Yaeesh, in the green car. He is quite an emotional character and in a really bad mood on this day, never even seen the circuit layout before this day and they went straight into quali. He just tried to go too fast too soon and basicaly drove like a **** all weekend. I told him so as well and he's much bigger than me. He is a Top Saudi Drifter, Drag and Street Racer and he generally does drive one handed. It's hard to get someone like this to drive differently and properly, I did 2 days in the UK with him and got him out of some of his bad habits but most had returned for this race.

Have since spent some time talking to him and straightening him out a little and he had a win and a 2nd in Zain Reem (Saudi) and a 2nd and a 3rd in the latest Yas Marina races.

I cant quite get across how tricky the circuit was with the fine sand blowing accross it, see this video of the latest race start, look at the end of the main straight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkC5iWuW9e8

The 1st race was probably a bit worse, they vac it up for the F1/GP2 boys but even they struggled with it. Coupled with the fact that most drivers had only done a handful of laps in these cars a month earlier in Bahrain and they are not hardcore race cars suspension wise. No camber, no toe, generally way too soft.

In this race was a European Radical Champions, ex (succesful) WRC driver, ex Posche Supercup driver, ex British F3 driver. Raed (the orange) car was on their pace but had mechanical issues. Abdulaziz drive like a .... and Husan (red car) was in an SC06 car (quite a bit slower and even less "sophisticated") and is a relative novice, now much improved.

Sorry but I feel I need to defend these guys a little as I know how tough it is and what they have to contend with.

The shifters by the way are sequential shifters bolted to a manual 4-speed box and some components we have found are just not up to the amount of torque being put through them.

freddy,

Have edited the initial post so as not to mislead re: HD, if I could change the title I would.
