Infiniti M Prices Revealed

5-series rival undercuts BMW by £2k

Infiniti has revealed the pricing for its new M37 5-series rival - and it's two grand less than the BMW.

The new rear-drive, V6 M37 saloon is on sale at 35,150, undercutting its BMW rival, the £37,300 535i SE by £2150.

The 316bhp M37 - which is limited to 155mph and sprints to 62mph from rest in 6.2secs - is the first of a three-tier range of M Line Infiniti saloons.

The petrol-powered M37 will be joined in October by the 235bhp, 406lb ft turbodiesel M30d, while a hybrid version - the M35h - will go on sale in spring 2011.

The £35,150 price is the bottom of the model's trim range. Next up the ladder is the M37GT (from £37,650), and the M37S (from £39,650). At the top of the range are 'Premium' versions of the GT and S models, and which cost £43k and £45k respectively.

If you fancy one, you'd better live quite near to Reading - because that, for now, is the only place you can buy an Infiniti in the UK. If you can bear to hang on just a little longer, however, there will be 'Infiniti Centres' opening in Birmingham, Glasgow and Central London by the end of the year...

Nissan know how to build a good car as they have show with 350z and the GTR but when looking back on there last attempt of a luxury car the Maxima QX the result was not so convincing.

I would think this would be a little different (RWD etc) but in all honestly I think I will take an E-Class or a 5 Series, if you dont mind!

At that price, they're staying niche for a while before they get ravaged by depreciation imo.

I don't mind them though smile

Without decent diesels they'll have very limited appeal.

The diesel coming in is from Renault. Whilst decent, it's not going to match a beemer unit for power, economy or finesse.

It's nice to see Infiniti coming to the UK, but I can't see them getting away from being very niche indeed in this county. Lexus have been around for years and still managed only 7,266 sales all last year with a decent dealer network and wider range, I can't see Infiniti selling 1,000 cars for a few years.

It'll be interesting to see how long they're willing to hang around in the UK if the cars are really slow to sell.

looks quite similar to a Jag XF.

BMW etc have never been scared of competition from overseas, i dont think this will change.

Exactly, always going to be a very niche model for people who want something "different", even if its not as good as the other offerings.

White with chrome alloys? vomit

Bad choice for a luxury press car IMHO...

You're kidding right....

It lacks all of the style and elegance of the XF.

As long as there is still massive snobbery in England, the Germans will never need to worry about losing sales from the image concious masses.

Hmmm, I would like to see this in the flesh. The first picture reminds me of a pet gerbil I had when I was 11 after he'd eaten a handful of sunflower seeds tongue out

Not a bad effort, but, let's be serious, it will NEVER take away sales from the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes - they have this market covered.

Probably won't be as engaging to drive as the 5er, either.

I suppose it's a case of 'daring to be different'.

Snobbery my arse, Its incredibly bland looking, is likely to be a poorer steer than its german counterparts and will depreciate like a lead balloon. Honda Legend or Nissan Maxima anyone?

I'm sure they're shaking in their boots.

Looks like a car crash between old model Saab 9-3 and Passat with VW Golf wheels bolted on.

Dunno - if the G37 coupe is anything to go by it will drive bloomin' well. That car's a pretty solid competitor for the 3-series coupe. Agree with you about the looks, though...

Of course it's snobbery, BMW took the piss with Bangle and still they sold.

The problem with your argument is that looks are purely subjective, I'm sure that plenty of people liked the look of the cars Bangle designed and didn't just buy them because of the badge.

Snobbery would suggest that 2 items are equal in every way and the badge/brand is the only difference. I would suggest that there are a number of other compelling reasons to choose the equivelant 5 series/E Class/A6 over the Infiniti, other than just the badge.
