Hi

On Friday I'm meeting friends in the Paddington area, but I'll be coming down the M1, I want to park my car outside London somewhere safe and then get train or tube(?) to the Paddington/Bayswater area.

I'm thinking Watford or Hemel Hempstead but is there anywhere else suitable with good parking and frequent fast trains into London?

Cheers smile

Watford and Hemel go into Euston and then its 2x tubes to get to Paddington. Alternatively, drive to Warwick Avenue/Maida Vale, park and walk the 5 minutes to Paddington. Its perfectly safe - my car lives on the street in W9.

Thanks Doug. I was thinking traffic and parking would be a nightmare as I got nearer Paddington. I guess I don't have meters and congestion charge to worry about after 6:30pm do I?

All the meters stop at 6:30pm and the congestion charge knocks off at 6pm if you want to get that close to Paddington station. PM me if you want some details!

Alternatively, you could park somewhere around Barnet and catch the tube in? Not far from the M1/A1

This, IMO. I usually come down the A1 and park at Cockfosters- never had any problems.

1 x tube if you walk to Euston Square.

Stanmore at the top of the Jubilee Line has a decent large carpark

There is plenty of off street parking around Bayswater and Paddington. Theres about 4 off street parking garages on Queensway alone. Its outside the Con charge zone also.

+1

We do this regularly, car park cheapish too. Get an all day tube 'rover' ticket, can't go wrong.

Stanmore is 5 minutes from J4, but watch the entrance to the car park as it's easy to drive past.

I would park on the street in Paddington, the single yellow lines come off at 630 but check the signs when you park. Getting home will be quicker if you don't have to get on a tube!

I park in the streets around Brent Cross tube. Only a couple hundred yards from the end of the M1. Metered parking works out at around 6 quid a day plus tube ticket. Cheapest and easiest way I've found to date.
