TomTom Refrubished Sat Navs - Warning
Discussion
If anyone is considering purchasing a refurbished TomTom from the TomTom Outlet Store you need to be aware of something.
These units do NOT come with a Latest Map Guarantee.
I recently bought a GO750 Refurbished model and the Map was over 18 months out of date.
They wanted £67.60 to get the latest map, which would include 12 months update!
My only option was to return it, which I have done.
I find this practice from a name such as Tom Tom disgraceful.
The Customer Service reps answer was ... this is why it's cheap.
Unbelievable!

sounds fair to me
It's a bit crap though - not sure what Tomtom think they are gaining.I've never updated my Tomtom because I can't be arsed to pay that much for the newer maps, and I still know the A10 above London exists as I can see it, even though my nav. tells me I'm driving through open fields..
It would be worth <£30 to me, £70+ on the other hand buys a lot (well less now) of petrol.
Rather than the retail outlet try Amazon for example http://www.amazon.co.uk/TomTom-GO-LIVE-750-Sat/dp/... thats for a New 750 Live which does come with LMG and is the same price as the item from TomTom (go figure) - Mike

I just paid the same price for a new one from Amazon, as TomTom charged for the refurbished one.
The lesson here is don't buy a refurbished Sat Nav from TomTom - you get shafted with old maps - when you can buy a new one for the same price.
I should have searched harder!
Good news. Mine is going back without opening the box. I have emailed them and asked why it is not clear on the website the latest maps are not included on the re-furbished units. Lets wait and see what they say....The lesson here is don't buy a refurbished Sat Nav from TomTom - you get shafted with old maps - when you can buy a new one for the same price.

HAD THIS RESPONSE FROM TOMTOM. They failed to answer my second question of why is it that the latest map promise, that is not included on re-furbished units, is not clearly indicated on the sales pages for the re-furbished units?

The strange part is that TomTom have been giving away free map updates with the refurb outlet store sales until very recently, when you can purchase the same hardware new for the same price complete with LMG its a real no brainer to go for Amazon in this case!
To those of you new to the 750 bear the following in mind:
1/ Make a full back up using Windows Explorer, the TT Home software is crap for backups so don't trust it.
2/ Update the application to the latest before doing anything with LMG, the current Navcore latest for the 750 is 9,058 although I have seen reports of a newer version but it doesn't seem to be auto downloading for many people, stick with 9,058 for the time being.
3/ Your new Western_Europe map will be too large to fit on the internal memory so consider a 4GB MicroSD card, this avoids having to put a zonal Euro map on the device with rather limitted coverage, especially if you are thinking of driving to Italy for example
4/ You only have 28 days to use the LMG so use that sooner rather than later as the new map was only recently released, a newer map will not be released within the next 28 days.
