Anglia Car Auctions will be holding a sale of around 225 (mostly) classic cars in Kings Lynn on Saturday April 14th, and there are more than a few lots which catch the eye.
For starters, three individual collections will be partially or wholly going under the hammer, cars up for sale from those including everything from a 1937 Lagonda LG45 Saloon De Ville to a Ford Escort RS Turbo. As with many UK auctions, there are more Jaguars than you can shake a stick at. Standouts amongst the usual crowd on this occasion being a manual Lister XJS and a rally-spec 1963 MkII, previously raced in Ireland by Ronnie McCartney.
Having recently been introduced to the potential joy of a
classic performance Skoda
1989 136 Rapid Coupe
can't help but jump out. Not on the same level as an 1100 OHC, perhaps, but there's a reason why seven different owners have been drawn to it! (Or, perhaps, why they've all decided to move it on...)
The ultimate two car garage is up for grabs, with a matching pair of white-on-white MG Metro Turbo and MG Metro Turbo Convertible separately on offer - although the latter is admittedly looking a little worse for wear. Should those seem a little much, there are some fantastically unassuming machines for sale in the shape of a 1992 Seat Ibiza CLX, 1994 Peugeot 405 Estate and a 1992 Fiat Panda 750 'Fire Mania' - which sounds infinitely more exciting that it looks. As cars that were once commonplace, something about them now appeals as rare curios.
Nothing is as curio as the 1991 Honda Beat Kei car, though. Just as the F40 will forever hold a unique appeal as the last Ferrari signed off by Enzo himself, so the Beat holds the honour of being the final car approved by Soichiro Honda before his death. It was designed by Pininfarina, too, giving it even more in common with the legendary Maranello machine than you might think. A very rare sight on UK roads, the version offered here - with yellow paint and zebra print interior - is even more unique still and has a roll cage fitted so you can feel safe enjoying all the 64hp produced at 8,100(!)rpm by the Beat's 656cc motor.
Rounding things off nicely are a couple of turn of the millennium 'classics'. These take the form of a 1-of-100
Vauxhall Astra Turbo 888 Coupe
- replete with 888 body kit, Recaro seats and OZ wheel - and one of 200 right-hand drive
Alfa 156 GTA Sportwagons
. The 15 year-old Alfa may have nearly 90,000 miles on the clock, but its design seems to be standing the test of time more impressively by the day, and the combination of those wheels, that interior, a manual gearbox and that 3.2-litre V6 will never get old.
If none of the above take your fancy then there's plenty more where they came from. The full list is available here, with the auction commencing at 12pm on the 14th and entry costing £5. Happy bidding!
