McLaren would seem to be the supercar of the month in July. From the newly released 570S Spider, and 720S, to a bespoke satin red MSO High Sport and the McLaren P1 'Project 300.' Project 300 is the creation of the McLaren Special Operations division, and is the only P1 ever to be made with louvres above the front wheel arches - although apparently, they are non-functional! Another 'unique' P1 pictured is the blue chrome wrapped car, which I'm sure you'll either love or hate...
July's headline cars include a few incredible hypercars seen in the capital: a sort of maroon-burgundy tinted carbon Huayra, and a blue tinted carbon Veyron SuperSport - showing off the eye wateringly expensive number plate 'F1' - are certainly attention-grabbing. However, Koenigsegg was turning the most heads in London, firstly with the brand new Agera 'RS1' an RS 'Naraya' parked together in Regent's Park, and then with the rarely seen green and red Agera R which visited North London to be detailed for its new owner.
Probably the most interesting, however, is the black LaFerrari shown here. A glance through the driver's window, or a less nosy Google search, shows that the name 'Fernando Alonso' adorns the bottom of the steering wheel. One would be forgiven then for assuming that this Italian hypercar was the property of the two-time Formula One World Champion. However, the story supposedly goes that Alonso, who helped to develop the LaFerrari while he was still driving for the F1 team, was built the car by Maranello; he never took delivery though, apparently not wanting the car. Hence it was sold to someone else who chose to keep his name on the wheel, maybe as a good conversation starter!
On the quirkier, obscurer and probably cooler side of London's car scene were the Porsche 356 D parked in a South Kensington mews, and the '89 911 Speedster parked on Old Bond Street. An honourable mention must also go to the pair of Formula One cars parked outside Ferrari London as parked of last month's 70th anniversary celebration. Feel free to let us know in the comments which is your favourite or, even better, post a picture of the best thing you've spotted in London or anywhere else recently!
