Life is what happens when you're making other plans. Or in this case, an Ignis is what happens when you're trying to replace an Ignis. PHer Ste372's original 1.3 GL was meant to be a stop-gap on his way to the sunlit uplands of a Subaru WRX wagon, but ended up lasting 18 months and 22,000 miles (i.e. most of the way round the earth's equator) before it finally donated its guts and went to the great scrap heap in the sky.
God's way of telling you that its replacement is well past due, you might think? But then what pops up for sale literally just around the corner? Yep - an Ignis Sport. Twas surely meant to be.
The engine was running a little rough, and it needed a new track rod end plus some other bits, but nothing to prevent the serendipitous deal being done. A simple £7 part fixed the rough running engine, multiple aftermarket gauges were removed to avoid electrical fires and a few more parts were replaced to get the Ignis in tip-top condition and running as smoothly as anyone could expect from a well-used 13-year-old motor.
In time, a few body panels were replaced too, along with modified lights and a switch from the Fox racing MS06 wheels for Team Dynamics to shave a little precious weight per corner.
Naturally it now seems his maintenance/improvement list gets longer every time he ticks a job off but the Ignis now looks the part and we look forward to further updates on its progress
