Anthropomorphism - big word, very common practice, given our desire to 'humanise' objects animate or inanimate with personalities and names.
In this context we're talking nicknames for cars, above and beyond the usual car geek model names or product codes. Stuff like the PHer who called his Monaro Bruce, for fairly obvious reasons. Or another with a Range Rover called Windsor, "because, like the Royal Family, it's very British on the surface but quite German underneath". Our current favourite is the PHer whose wife calls her Nissan Leaf Brian Johnson for the reason "it's AC/DC". Bravo!
