For the very first time, GPS (global positioning system) and
radio transmission technologies have
been combined to create the most sophisticated and reliable stolen vehicle
recovery system available in the UK – Tracker Horizon.
By uniting these two powerful technologies Tracker has built
the ultimate new security device that, like all Tracker products, is operated by
all 52 Police forces in the UK.
Vehicles fitted with Tracker Horizon will activate a silent
signal direct to Tracker’s HQ the moment an unauthorised movement is detected.
This land based radio signal will accurately lead the Police to a stolen
vehicle’s location – even if it is concealed in a lock-up, garage, container
or covered car park – whilst the satellite GPS system empowers Tracker HQ to
advise the Police of the vehicle’s whereabouts on its extensive computer-based
UK mapping system.
Marketing Manager for Tracker, Colin Paterson, said: "With
Tracker Horizon we have tightened the net on car crime. Now, our renowned land
based system is backed up by an ‘eye in the sky’ satellite system that gives
the car owner an even stronger advantage over the thief or joy rider."
To date, Tracker is fitted to over 285,000 vehicles and as a
result, the police have retrieved over 5,700 stolen vehicles worth over £58
million. Tracker retrievals have also helped the police make over 1,100 arrests.
Tracker Horizon costs £499, and is available for passenger
cars and light commercial vehicles.
