CarFest North 2016 took place at the end of July at Bolesworth Park, its southern partner event following at the end of August at Laverstoke Park. Set up by (former) Top Gear presenter Chris Evans as a fund raiser for BBC Children In Need, over the five years it's been running the combined car show and music festival has reportedly attracted half a million visitors and raised over £6m, that total looking to increase to over £8m by, as a spokesperson put it, "the time the pennies are counted".
Cars on display this year included everything from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to RB7 - Red Bull's World Championship winning F1 Car. The show featured a short, non-competitive hillclimb allowing nearly every car on display to be seen in action by the public. Highlights include Chris Evans' very own McLaren F1 and LaFerrari, the £2m Aston Martin Vulcan, and the Top Gear Stunt Team lead by Paul Swift.
Visitors were able to bid on rides up the hill, or out on the road, for the Sporting Bears charity, in cars such as the Pagani Huayra, Lamborghini Countach, and even a Texas State Police car. Other stands around the site such as 'Roast Fest' were also contributing to the money raised for charity.
Acts performing at the event included Ronan Keating, Will Young and Rick Astley, as well as Stereophonics and Status Quo. CarFest is unique in probably being the only place you can watch Schumacher's 1993 race-winning Benetton F1 car tearing past you, and then shortly afterwards see Sophie Ellis-Bextor perform alongside the Feeling.
For information about next year's events keep an eye on the CarFest website, the first batch of tickets typically going on sale to coincide with Children In Need night. Click on the pics below for a flavour of 2016's events and what you can expect!
