Running a Lotus Exige S as a daily car alongside a Caterham as a weekend toy is brilliant. But when the Caterham is sold and a more usable daily comes into the picture, the space which the Lotus can fill becomes clear. Time to start with the track focused upgrades...
First stop for PHer GFWilliams was wheels and tyres - standard ones replaced with lighter Lotus forged ones with a more track-focused tyre, Pirelli's Trofeo R. Then on a trip to Germany, he stopped by Komo-tec, known for upping the power on Lotus products, to discuss getting a little more power.
After a drive in their 460hp demonstrator and a few months deliberating whether or not to go for it, GF booked it in to get the upgrade fitted. 110hp and 96lb ft more, plus charge cooling, meant this Exige S was even harder to keep up with on track. Add a remap, sports manifold and a pulley change into the mix and you truly have a potent machine.
Brakes were upgraded and the added stopping power has been noted on track whilst the Nitron adjustable dampers are composed on track but a little crashy on the road - the perfect set up is still to be found. Afterburner effect rear lights and Liquid Yellow paintwork make the car stand out when it is standing still and hats off to this PHer for racking up 19,000 miles this year in his weekend/track day toy.
