The TVR dealer network has changed shape a bit over the last few years. The
latest addition is Racing Green TVR in Hampshire. Racing Green aren't new to
sportscars however. You've probably seen their adverts in performance car
magazines for their range of hot Jaguars. Famed for these conversions from
Arden, Beechams and alike, Racing Green have plenty of experience of niche
motoring.
Their new premises in Ash Vale are a testament to their commitment to TVR.
The huge showroom graces bith TVRs and an exciting range of Jaguars from
classics through to the latest XKs including some classics with modern running
gear.
The TVRs can be found on the ground floor and on the spacious first floor,
where you'll also find some other classic British names. When we visited, Racing
Green were also playing host to the amazing Cerbera Speed 12 and TVR's Tuscan
race car demonstrator.
Setting yourself apart in this market is obviously important. Securing sales
is one thing, but in order to secure the servicing and upgrade work, each dealer
or specialist needs to stress their unique skills and facilities. With Racing
Green it's their engineering skills that they stress. Talk to them and they'll
leave you in no doubt that they're an engineering company that sells cars rather
than vice-versa.
Take a tour around their workshops and you'll see that they're well equipped
to cater to owners who ask for a bit more. State of the art wheel and tyre
balancing machines, brake disc skimming equipment and four wheel laser alignment
gear have been installed so far. A new bodyshop is also under construction and
they also have fabrication facilities at their other site nearby. Looking at
some of the jobs being done on the Jags in the workshop showed that they're
ready for the unusual. Coupled with staff that have been working in the TVR
dealer network for many years, they're well placed to fulfil their ambitions.
Taking advantage of the fact that the premises are new, Racing Green have
also given some thought to the little things that make the difference. Should
you need to leave your car there out of opening hours then you can gain access
to their secure compound via a PIN number and leave your car in safety. The
railway station is just a few hundred yards away.
Racing Green have grand plans and from what we could see they're well placed
to execute them. They'll be having open days in the new year and are planning to
support a front running Tuscan driver next year. It's a name we'll be seeing a
lot more of.
