Silverstone Performance expands
Silverstone-based TVR and Toyota specialist Silverstone Performance is to open a second workshop, in Bicester, this month.
SP, which opened late last summer, has already outgrown its current workshop since it began servicing and tuning performance Toyotas alongside TVRs. At the same time, SP has formed an alliance with Bicester-based Champ Cars for car sales rather than develop its own retail operation.
SP director Steve Preest said: “We have ambitious plans for the future involving tuning TVRs and Toyotas and were looking at larger or additional premises. Our commercial advisor introduced us to Gary Champ who at the same time was looking to return to the specialist sports car market at his Bicester site. Our strengths are technical and Gary’s are in motor retailing and our respective ambitions were best served by a collaboration.”
Overflow work from SP Silverstone is already being done at SP Bicester but from 24 April, service and tuning work can be booked in at either workshop – SP Silverstone is closest to the M1 (J15a) and SP Bicester is close to the M40 (J9). SP Bicester is behind Champ Cars’ superb showroom.
The two workshop locations mean customers can choose the most convenient one. Steve: “Each location has different advantages – SP Bicester is a lot more visible and more convenient to mid-counties customers. Bicester is also an MOT station and has a clean room for ECU work. SP Silverstone, our spiritual home, is perfect for our tuning work and will, we hope, continue to be a busy service centre. Another benefit of the Silverstone site is for trackday go-ers and the growing drift fraternity to drop in for adjustments and tyre changing – kind of like a pit stop!”
SP is currently recruiting technicians with Toyota and TVR experience so if you’re interested, please contact Steve Preest or Matt Lee at info@silverstoneperformance.co.uk.
