As we reported towards the end of last year, the Alpine A110 range is set for a significant update that will address some of the current model's weaknesses. Notably, its infotainment system, which, for anyone trying to use it, was a constant bugbear.
The new A110 still comes with a 7.0-inch screen, but, finally, it comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There's also new OEM software, which we're yet to try but it allows over-the-air updates if there are still any glitches. As before, live telematics are available (standard on the S) that show boost pressure, gearbox oil temperature, steering angle, power and torque etc., plus a lap timer for any track days you're planning.
The entry-level model is the A110, which is confirmed at £49,905. This comes with 252hp from the same 1.8-litre turbocharged four-pot and a kerbweight from 1,102kg. The brakes are 296mm-diameter Brembos front and rear with black calipers, and the wheels are 17-inch alloys shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.
The A110 GT is £59,355. After software changes that are part of the facelift it now develops 300hp and drops the 0-62mph time from 4.5 seconds (for the A110) to 4.2 seconds. It also adds blue Brembo calipers, 18-inch diamond cut alloys, six-way Comfort bucket seats, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and a Focal sound system.
Lastly, there's the A110 S, priced at £59,955. It features the same 300hp power output as the GT, but with a Sport chassis. This means 50 per cent stiffer springs, firmer dampers, modified geometry and 100 per cent stiffer anti-roll bars, which are hollow to reduce weight. The ride height drops by 4mm as well and the brakes grow to 320mm with orange calipers. There's also a sports exhaust, and GT Race alloys with the option of Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
If you add the optional Aero Kit, this increases the top speed to 170mph and adds a carbon rear spoiler, carbon front splitter and longer front fairings under the car help the rear diffuser work more efficiently. Together, this adds an extra 141kg of downforce. You can order a new A110 now, and deliveries are due to start this month.
