It's been a decade since we first saw the Maserati GranTurismo and now it has received some much needed technical updates for MY18. Having not long ago revisited the Maserati GranTurismo for a
V8 feature
some of the niggles that we found in the ageing cabin have pleasingly been addressed.
That sonorous 4.7-litre V8 remains, fitted to a six-speed ZF gearbox, with power and torque figures in both the Sport and MC Stradale variants of the car, now the same. 460hp at 7,000rpm and 384lb ft at 4,750rpm, to be exact. Design wise, the decade old car still looks fresh-faced but now with a small nip and tuck to reflect the design language of the Alfieri concept. The 'sharknose' hexagonal grille is said to add a three-dimensional view to the front, whilst lower air ducts improve the air distribution and reduce the drag coefficient on both the GranTurismo and GranCabrio. Meanwhile, the rear bumpers have been given a neater design with emphasis on the "natural elegance" of the GT coupe and cabriolet.
The main upgrades come in the cabin, with the antiquated infotainment system replaced by a new 8.4-inch, captive touch compatible unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A new rotary dial with repositioned driver mode buttons completing the interior refurbishment. Initially released at NYSE, the car is also being shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where a Bulgari watch is to be revealed alongside it, with anyone who purchases a MY18 GranTurismo or GranCoupe being presented with the exclusive timepiece.
