Snetterton will be an exciting round for Lotus fans. Previous years have seen Esprits doing their bit in the GTs, but the Elise and it variants have always struggled to make an impression thanks to unfavourable regulations regarding power to weight ratios. That said, this type of racing does - and should - favour cars with extreme horsepower.
Next weekend's meeting in Norfolk will see an Exige competing in the GT Cup Class. Ray Mallock Limited - very experienced race engineers - have been working on their Exige for some time now and their initial tests have left them feeling very positive.
The car will be driven by owner Paul Whight, an experienced Group C racer with Aston Martin AMR-1 and another "very quick" co-driver. There were suggestions earlier in the year that this could be Lotus's own Gavan Kershaw but we'll have to wait and see.
RML are not concerned about the slow times posted by the Italian Motorsport Elise in the opening round claiming they have totally transformed the character and performance of their car and they expect to be up with the front runners.
