Fine for a dirty number plate?

It's not a rebuke, it's a fairly basic example of "look over there!" as a debating technique, which also exposed him (and you) as a bigot.
But knock yourself out with the ad hominem.
Keep going. You'll make a great case study to link to when people want an example of the phenomenon. But knock yourself out with the ad hominem.
You might want to do some reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive-aggressive_be...
As your lamentable lack of education is showing (that's fairly outright hostility btw).

Keep doing it and report back. There's certainly no chance of geting thumped for not cleaning your car but I think you're asking for trouble and it will find you eventually.
Can you clarify your motive please?
Already have, twice. Cabln you answer the question I asked that you've been avoiding? Can you clarify your motive please?

You could throw in a "your type", maybe a "you people"?
Then turn, salute the portrait of Farage over the fireplace and drive the 500 yards to the golf-club to try to pick up the polish waitress for the 4,746th time?
She just doesn't understand you, it's not that she thinks you are pathetic, honest.

Fire away. It will be quicker than looking back through the thread.
Why hide your plates under dirt instead of removing them? Is it only because you hope plod will go easier on you when stopped? Additionally, can you be precise about which crimes you intend committing once your identity is untraceable? Is it only speeding? Or maybe a little red light running? Some yellow box blocking? Where, precisely, do you draw the line, or isn't there one"

That's a truthful answer. You may not believe it, which is your perogative, but I can assure you I have no inhibitions about admitting to things which may be illegal or upset people on an internet forum, with the obvious proviso that such an admission might incriminate me. For example, I recently posted on another thread about going no comment after an accident I was involved in. My view was that to do anything else would have incriminated me and that a prosecution would have served no purpose. I respect the right of others to take a different view.

I am not trying to hide my plates by not cleaning them. Not cleaning them is a simple consequence of that task being accorded zero priority when I clean the glass and lights. Whenever I wash the whole car, which is rare, the plates are included. It should follow from what I've just written that I'm not trying to evade prosecution for any crime. If I hit someone I will stop and am well aware of the severe penalties for failing to do so. In the unlikely event a camera couldn't read my plate, I wouldn't lose any sleep, but it's not the reason why I don't clean the car or the plate. I have a clean licence, low insurance premiums and have had (camera based) speeding convictions in the past.

I'm not sure, if the above were wholly true, that you'd be getting quite so het up.That's a truthful answer. Tell me again, what was your position? That you started to change when called on it, then went off on a tangent saying you were just misunderstood?I'm perfectly happy to debate with you, IF you stop chopping and changing, and I'd prefer it if you left the racism out.

Here’s the thing - your argument is structured in such a way that it relies on the initial premise being true, which it isn’t, so your “antagonise strangers” conclusion is false. The “But lets be clear” is a nice touch, meaningless but a fairly decent rhetorical device here.
You then equate assault with cleaning, which I would suggest you might want to re-examine, as it is ridiculous.
It does however provide more context as to why your judgement on the moral issue is of risible worth.

This doesn’t actually make sense, some sort of manifest destiny for plates?Anyway, other than being making a decent fist of exposing your inner Enoch Powell, this suggests that we should adopt a more nuanced approach to identifying our motor vehicles, without explaining why.
I do like the irony implicit in you trying to seize the moral highground here, much LOL.
Anyway, your position seems to be “if you clean a plate you deserve a thump, because nuance. God bless our glorious leader Nigel!”
Close enough?
