Six weeks after birth everybody is issued with a Social Security Number, which should be a unique identifier.

Seems either we get rid of it because it's useless, or we do a better job and keep it.
I note with interest that the Police stopped using it on their ANPR activities because it made too many false positives.
Shutting it down would also cause a little bit of unemployment in Swansea.
Anyone have any idea how many folks depend on this databse for their employment ?
