Hi All
to be clear the dogs don't bark all day. They will bark when somebody walks past or rings the buzzer once called both dogs will heal and stop barking. The property has a front driveway which is where they will stand but you can walk around to the rear garden. We have only 8 houses on the street which is about 1/2 mile. They will bark and follow who ever it is until they cant see them then they will come in or unless I have called them. As I said there hardly ever in the garden themselves.
Plus where my parent inlaws live id rather have the dogs barking like this as there has been numerous house broken in to where they have not had pets.

If they show up just show them the garden, explain the measures you have to prevent them getting out and show them the dogs. Also explain the potential malicious side of things too.
If your dog's are as you say they are and secured in the manner you suggest then it's just a paperwork exercise. If a complaint is made then the Police are duty bound to investigate it, pain in the ass for you but that's the way it is.

I can say hand on heart one of my dogs barks most times someone walks past our garden gate when she is out,
and the only thing that can stop her is either myself or swmbo telling her not to, or the passerby tickling her belly.
Barking dogs do not automatically mean aggresive dogs.
True but they can be perceived to be by those that don't like/understand dogs.and the only thing that can stop her is either myself or swmbo telling her not to, or the passerby tickling her belly.

100% agree, but who does that make in the wrong
Dog seeking attention or non liking/understanding dog person ?
Probably a balance on both sides.Dog seeking attention or non liking/understanding dog person ?
People have a right keep dogs, people have a right to be afraid of them. That's life.
As long as they (dogs) are contained then no harm is done.

we live in the world were everything is black and white. somebody "HAS TO BE WRONG"
Possibly someone with a grudge. I had it recently , one cat crazy woman ,who thinks her cat can crap/pee anywhere it likes. Pee-I'm /wouldn't be bothered if tiddles was neutered and didn't leave she cat markings around for Toms to ammonia spray and stink out my garden. I recently spotted her cat sizing up my garden and I stood by with a jug of water .Next came cat in garden and my terrier chased it ,cat ending up on fence, and nearly loosing tail. next, I put dog in car as cat walked passed-dog got out and chased cat -screams of vicious dangerous dog .Council dog warden visited and saw the truth.
Again not so long ago I had an irate neighbour at door. Some white dog ( not a wheaten Cairn) had crapped in his garden - his next door neighbour told him ,and said it was mine, which only gets let off lead in local park. Few days later ,I spotted a dog running loose- a Brown head/white body JR.First chance I got I suggested to complainant that his neighbour should exchange his thick bottomed spirit glasses for distance prescribed ones.
As I said- someone sees a dog running wild ,sees (to a non dog person ) something of similar colour ,but of different breed ,and ASS U ME'S it's the dogs they saw in a nearby garden.

I am not anti-dog. When I was living with my parents we always had several. One thing they were very strict about and instilled in me was proper training. In an urban environment where people are passing/re-passing on the pavement (which they have a right to do without hindrance or annoyance), dogs which bark at them every time are a PITA. If someone comes past the boundary onto your property that's a different matter: the dog is then defending it's/it's owner's territory. The problem is that training is a foreign concept to so many dog owners. There is no excuse for not doing so. It's part of the responsibility of ownership.
My neighbour has barking dogs too which are often quiet but someone passing by, a postman, me opening my door, etc will set them all off on a bark-o-thon lasting ages.
Perhaps you don't realise what an absolute nuisance your dogs are to those living quietly around you, hence the complaint.
I might actually use the same tactic on my neighbours who also don't seem to know, despite being told on a few occasions.

Agreed - constantly yapping and barking dogs are a real pain. They shouldnt be barking their heads off just because somebodys walking past. Anti-social!Perhaps you don't realise what an absolute nuisance your dogs are to those living quietly around you, hence the complaint.

Yup. I wish people also stopped their brats screaming and shouting all day long in their gardens.Trailhead said:

All that got said is he is visiting them next week to clear everything up as they are away.
After asking some people our neighbours are away till Tuesday so it cant be much of a coincidence with what he said and what we found out.
Just really pisses me of that people would do this.
Might be worth confronting them head on in a polite manner of course to clear things up on a personal level. These things have a funny way of escalating quickly. After asking some people our neighbours are away till Tuesday so it cant be much of a coincidence with what he said and what we found out.

Find out there problem and try to put the issue to bed!
OP is one of those annoying neighbours with noisy dogs barking constantly throughout the day.
In the OP's situation I would be looking at stopping my dogs from barking when in the garden so much.
