she's definately playing on the "damsel in distress" bit, she was on telly this morning, and the gmtv blokey didn't know you weren't allowed to stop either. they also had a rather attractive representative from the plod on who was a DC (detective constable?), and basically said the copper was wrong in what he did, and should have used his discretion.
i'd have thought the traffic cop would have had more experience in scraping idiots off the motorway than your average DC, and was better placed to use his discretion.

Amazing....so even the BiB don't back each other up??!!

"Damsel in Distress" my ase. Be interesting to see if Clarkson does a column about this little episode

It is easy to miss the M6/Toll divide, you don't expect to have to peel off to continue on the road you were on. It is totally done that way to increase traffic on the toll road and boost revenue. My better half did it just last week.

That said, she had the sense to continue on the toll road and pay the price for her inattention, rather than stop on the motorway for "directions".

A Question... is there the opportunity to leave the Toll section before the tollgate if you don't want to use the tollroute? If not and the signs are badly placed, I believe you'd be within your rights to refuse to pay the toll..... haven't been oop there so don't know this new road, yet.....
PS toll roads MUST supply a receipt by EU law (local by-laws are not allowed to "unhinge" EU law; always have fun with this a Dartford tunnel/Forth Road Bridge and block the gates for a time!) as this is a legal transaction for which a receipt is obligatory!!!!!
No escape once you're on it. When wifey did it se had no cash either, fortunately the booths will take credit cards. Worryingly they do so without any pin number or signature required, just pop em in the slot, grab receipt and card and off you go. £3.50 for a car now ().

You don't even get a receipt unless you specifically ask for it.

S'alright by me though, I'm too busy steering with my knees, foot to the floor, while putting my credit card back in my wallet
