It's working here.

3% agree
95% disagree
2% don't know

Ugh, they have PIC (personal injury collisions) on their website too.

Now where do they get this data from, and what is it really telling us.

Wade throug that and view the KSI's in a ligher green that almost seems secondary to the big PIC data, and you have to ask yourself if they are showing this PIC data as more representative of safety on these roads.

www.safetycameraswestyorkshire.co.uk/mobile-location-stats.htm?camera=141

What next, PPS stats, Public Perception of Speeding... lots of locals thought cars went too fast rolleyes

What gets me the most though, is that avg.speed and 85th percentile are all taken several years ago now. To show anything meaningful they really need to get more data to suggest any change in behaviour. How can they say that over the last 9 years any trend is a trend they have created or is just random statistical noise?

Best example is the road between Burley and Ilkley, Counstances way or whatever, lots of fixed cams there and a very low speed limit. My guess is in response to a bad single accident in around 2001 (7 KSI) and another lone single two KSI's in the same 9 year period. Surely that should show that sporadic things can suddenly happen then a lull of nothing for years, and that even showing the data doesn't reinforce anything other than how random the data can be.
Even more worrying is engineering alterations or changes are not displayed on the charts, so you can't take anything meaningful from them at all.

Muppets propoganda spinners!

Never seen one in West Yorks, ever... so maybe it's the roads I use?

There's often one ( a couple of days a week) on the A638 dual carriage way from the M1 to Dewsbury. This is a proper DC with central verge and armco etc.It used to mbe 70mph but is now a 50 limit. If you're coming towards the motorway you don't see them until you have just exited a sweeping bend and they are about 200-300 yds from there. Also seen them on the A653 Dewsbury-Leeds road, parked on the central reservation of the dual carriage way.......you need to get out more

Ah, don't go down Dewsbury way that often, but it sounds like a typical censored place for them to be hiding right where it's probably totally safe to go a bit quicker.

Been on the A653 section you mention a fair few times though, a great deal infact. You meaning from Tingley hell-alike roundabout down to the White Rose? I often get upto 7.5 leptons down there, indicated. Isn't it national DC? Not like you can often go much quicker is it, and if you do keep your eyes peeled

They are pretty thin on the ground though round here imho. Went on a journey out about 10 months ago, did about 50 mile round trip over to Burnley way and spotted so many mobile cameras out and about it made me thankful to be a West Yorks/North Yorks person.

Ah ok, don't go down there either

I tend to not go places with scamerati activity if it can be helped. I hope local commerce realises they are loosing out on my hard earned hehe

They also claim that they must provide up to 100m of visibility for mobile camera sites, which is complete and utter bollox as I was caught on the A64 by a car hiding behind the embankment, parked illegally (except they can do what they like and bugger the consequences) on the slip road. I will never spend any money in W Yorks again.

From a statistical point of view, using short time periods to compare the COUNT of a number of rare events is complete rubbish. There are good statistical techniques for this (looking at the distribution of time between events, say) but hey ho...why would an SCP bother when their stats are produced by somebody who has a few GCSE's and an NVQ 3 in business admin (I'm guessing...I do not know anyone who does this!!).
