Actually, the targets on selfpropelled looms laughingly referred as cyclists call themselves "Critical Mass". "Reclaim" the Streets are even worse.

True. But why is it that when this happens in Cambridge, the only people trying to reclaim the streets are a bunch of tree huggers in dungarees on bikes to whom "outside Cambridge" doesn't exist, and a bunch of soap dodgers with dogs on string who don't have bikes *or* cars. Just special brew and an attitude, it would seem.

Bah. The only solution is to make sure to drive your car around town on such days. Preferably a big/noisy/smelly/expensive one to cause maximum offence.

reclaim the streets?

Arse!

More tarmac - that's what this country needs. Rail doesn't work for gawd's sake. Build more roads!

These scrotes on (nicked) bicycles coddsed up Bank some months ago, and completely ground the whole area to a halt. They even managed to block the entrances / exits to Bank tube station (all 7/8/9 of them). What did / could the BiB do about it? B*gger all apparently

"They're not actually breaking any laws unfortunately" said an irate copper when some besuited gents asked him what was going to be done about it. I got the impression that Plod had the serious hump about it, and was itching to give the little toe rags a gentle slap around their unshaven chops.

- Van with several officers wearing body armour and carrying nailed-truncheons

Now, this struck me as being so completely excessive and disproportionate.

No your wrong.

This is the best method for dealing with cycling-terrorists taking up and blocking an urban road and abusing the human rights of righteous road users.

I got caught up in a Reclaim The Streets demo in north London a few years back. The sh1tbags had dragged an artic with trailer across Tottenham High Road (the A10) and proceeded to have a street party. The police stood by and seemingly did nothing. It was a co-ordinated event acros London. I gave a friend a lift to Finsbury Park and, while sitting in the usual jam, the road was engulfed by a torrent of unwashed, gnarly toothed, combats clad, dreadlocked (but white) wits. I was in the Rolls Spirit that I had at the time and was subjected to special attention. Car was covered in gob and I lost count of the number of scum who saw fit to press their hideous phizzogs against my side window and utter obscenities at me, about their class war.

Funny thing is, I'm from an impoverished working class background and had to work my t1ts off in unpleasant places to get that car, and they all swore at me in their nice hampstead accents. When I got back to the pub in Tottenham, there was a few of them in there. I had to be physically restrained. Strangely enough, for anti-car demonstrators, they all called taxis or got Daddy to pick them up in the BMW and take them back to Hampstead, Highgate and Islington.

And they're the same individuals who can be found at every demo, for every cause that challenges the rights of you and me to work hard and achieve something with our lives. Twats, the lot of 'em.

In the interests of improving police efficiency can I suggest following them with a road roller, preferably with dodgy brakes?

It wold also save on red paint for bus lanes etc

Oh I so wish we could....this is speaking as a cyclist myself. I, on the other hand, use my bike as a means of TRANSPORT on the roads I pay for.

I can't ride my bike on pavements. Pedestrians shouldn't stand about in the road.
