£30 is all it takes for a bluetooth headset, makes mobiles so easy and great to use all he time, not just in the car.

Yes, but if you use it anywhere else other than in the car, people think you're a wierdo talking to themselves.

Why? At least talking to yourself you have an intelligent listener:-)

I can understand answering a call on the move. Especially as getting caught is very unlikely.
What gets to me is the number of drivers I see getting into their cars while talking on the phone and then driving off. Why not finish the conversation FFS.

If they really want to enforce the use of phones on the move, easy............. first offence £1000, fine, 2nd offence £2000, and if the punters cant pay it, confiscate the car.

Personally I dont even want to pay a speeding fine, or parking fine, so I dont speed, and dont park on double yellow lines, those who do deserve what they get.

Enforcing the ban on phones is simply checking the time and phone log for the punters phone, who when stopped says "What me officer on the phone"

"We are in breach of minor laws at times.."

So speeding is a minor offence?

Yes, extremely, and I don't even do it very much.

"can I ask what motorway driving experience you have to base that opinion on please?"
I have very little experience.
About 20,000 US Motorway miles.
About 10,000 German motorway miles.
About 30,000 South African miles.
About 10,000 miles a year in the UK over the last 35 years.

But not really very much.

Driven on US motorway -- some have a funny lane system which mean you have to adhere to speed limit else you can get in bother.

Driven many, many more miles on Autobahn over the years Ist road system where you can really "test" your motor's capability

How you cope there? 85th percentile ist not 70 mph Ist never been 70 mph

Not driven in South Africa .. ist place I have never wanted to visit....but know people who have driven there ....

But ist thread about the Handy...?Und I don't like the Handy. I find have to concentrate on conversation more than I want to... so ist switched off as I enjoy the feel of my car

Einfach!

Ja.. that really annoys me too... more so when I see police officers (off duty doing this) und the officer's spouse too

But as for the call on move.. ist simple. ist switched off und the message ist recorded on the voicemail .. ist why ist has a voicemail- nicht? Ist not that hard to view messages - text or other when stopping for en route coffee (or in my case - kitten care.. )

Madasafish,

I am most confused now, you see, many Autobahns have Unrestricted Speed limits.. At least, according to my german friend, oh, and the last time I was there, and my father, who lived there for 18 years. That means you can go as fast as your little car can carry you, on certain stretches of the Autobahn... Indeed, a certain German friend in his Merc took us to 150mph odd.... So either you have travelled 10,000 miles without ever meeting an unrestricted section..........

Also, unless the Copyright, Patents and Designs Act has been repealed, I fear you are mistaken. S17(1) says "The copying of the work is an act restricted by the copyright". It is a myth that you can copy for your own use, and in fact, even making a back up of a computer game was held to be an infringement, as it was "not necessary".
