I drove through Northants on the weekend apart from the distracting speed signage I came across some complete lunacy.

Barrages made of kirbing jutting out into the road about 3ft the only warning being a "square" sign high up on a pole 20 odd yards before it. No lighting, no white markings, just a protruding kirb. Strangely enough with cones on them.

If I was a cyclist at night I may well be killed if I rode into them unawares. They are an outright danger especially considering the total lack of "warning signs" I noticed some had tyre marks on them too obviously from cars.

If someone dies who is to blame? & what can I do about them as they are dangerous especially to non locals?

I try to steer clear of Northamptonshire, reminds me of a backwards US County that run's its own laws.

They certainly have a major grip with motorists, lots of cameras, speed humps, resctrictions for the average motorist. It's probably not the average motorist they should be targetting though since Northants Police has the country's worst accident record.

Probably caused by all the speed humps, jutting out kerbs and other stupid things they've put in causing them to have accidents when they are rushing to get to a crime.

They took a set of these out from near here recently.
Not cyclists driving the change - loads of cars hitting the obstruction plus I believe a head on accident or two caused by traffic swerving into oncoming traffic.

They've replaced it with 50ft of single track choke point with priority out of the village - very safe but queues horrendous at busy times

A local business owner has installed a similar kerb outside his premises on a country road which cannot be seen until the last instant due to a curve and a low hump in the road. Approaching drivers see the road as straight.

So far there have been three serious crashes including one death, when folks have hit this kerb and overturned their vehicles.

Astonishingly, the owner refuses to remove the kerb as, he says, to do so would be an admission of liabilty for the crashes.

Camden Council is also indulging in this dangerous insanity. It beggars belief. People have suggested that they put a reflective edge on the kerb, but they refuse.

Where did this present crop of faceless planners come from, and what faceless idiot came up with these ideas?

There are consultants (spit) out there who charge fees for designing this crap....your local planners just chuck the 'problems' at them......and your Council Tax does the rest.
