I am doing some work for a company that provides vehicles and drivers for TV. Quite often i will get into a vehicle and be told: "The tax disc is fake/ but there is a real one in the ashtray for when they are not filming, quite often there are fake license plates to be put on and taken off too.

What I am wondering is what happens one day when i innevetably forget to swap them back when i finish a job at 3:00am and get stopped by Bib?

Would my explanation be adequate, providing I had the real plates and tax disc with me, or would i get the book thrown at me?

Low scale reported for not displaying a tax disk and number plates.

At worst. Going equipped, maybe wouldent stick but youd be in the cells for a while.

Yeah all non endorsable. Cost you a hundred squid or so maybe for the first set of answers.

A night in the cells for the other. Id carry proof if i was you for the reasons you state and obviously you have the original plates / tax in the vehicle to back up your story.

Thanks Slider, thats good to know, sort of

TBH I think the chances of getting pulled are pretty slim, probably slim enough to not really worry too much provided the offences will not cost me my Job/license if I were to get done.

I would say te chances of getting pulled are a lot less than pretty slim, unless you find an ANPR van. A guy I worked with drove around for over 2 years with different plates front and back without realising. His car got rammed up the back and when the bodyshop repaired it they fitted a new numberplate. Unfortunately, whoever ordered the plate was obviously dyslexic. It had all the right letters and numbers but in the wrong order. He never noticed as he could never look at the back and front of the car at the same time. It was only when he came to sell the car the buyer noticed when checking the details against the log book.

Same thing happened to my mother in law - new car delivered by the dealer with mismatched (dyslexic) plates. Nobody ever noticed until a minor prang resulted in a new bumper & number plate... the bodyshop rang to enquire as to which number she wanted on the new plate
