The bit between "Dear [...]" and "Yours" was as follows:

"I would hope that you would agree that it is wrong to criminalise safe
and reasonable behaviour.

Why do we have blanket arbitrary speed limits bearing little or no
relationship to appropriate speeds for the roads so limited?

I have never been prosecuted for exceeding the speed limit but I still
consider the National Speed Limit philosophically objectionable as it
could criminalise safe and reasonable behaviour, which is oppressive."

I wonder what he'll say.

If I were your MP I would tell you to sell your car and catch the train. You may then well exceed 70mph without any worry of being prosecuted!

I might have no problem with going slowly, just with oppression.

There is plenty non-petrolhead ammunition to throw at bad arbitrary laws which criminalise reasonable behaviour.

I've sent it to all "my" MSPs too, including two Greens...

What's the point?

Seems like the waste of a stamp to me.

Your MP is hardly going to want a load of loonies thinking he's pro-motorist. You can just imagine the mothers at the school gate saying they'll never vote for him.

The point is to ensure he is more worried about being sacked by petrolheads than any other group.

If we become the most prominent feature of their mailboxes we will be listened to.
