I get that it isn't 'realistic' in terms of damage and head shots etc but if it really was the case then you'd need dozens of enemies otherwise the game would quickly become little more than a turkey shoot. And very dull because of it. Besides, it's a third person action RPG with shooting mechanics, not a first person Shooter. And wouldn't it be great if a single headshot killed you? I think most would find it very unfair. I agree it does require a significant chunk of suspension of belief, something that is easily done with Destiny or Mass Effect 3.

Spent another couple of hours on it this afternoon and I'm less than convinced now if you intend to play it solo. Tried to do the second story mission (the power one) only to get defeated by the Cleaner boss several times at the end. Level 6 enemy and I'm a level 6 agent yet I could barely damage him. Couple that with ridiculous range of his flame thrower and the DPS it puts out and I'm out of bullets before you know it.
Doesn't help getting stuck on the environment when trying to escape too.
It's clearly pitched as a squad game that you can try and solo if you want, rather than a solo affair that you can bring your mates it to play too.
Not tried the Dark Zone yet, but PvP ain't really my thing. Nope, won't be a preorder for me, I'll see what the finished game looks like I think
That guy was not difficult at all. Just get up on to the walkway and when he slowly follows you run to the other end and start shooting him until he gets within range of you then run off and repeat. There are even barrels in each corner you can shoot when he gets close to them.Doesn't help getting stuck on the environment when trying to escape too.

Also, sounds like some of you need to turn on the press X to cover option if you're getting stuck on things.
If you're in cover and trying to get out, or get out of it quickly to avoid grenades, double tap...i think the A button.
You do a neat little roll and cover a reasonable amount of ground fairly quickly. You can then just quickly hit A to snap back into cover again. I was enjoying it lots more last night once I used roll to avoid grenades.
I caught up with a couple of destiny people late last night - but just missed Phil and Simo I think.
Darkzone was quite good fun - feels much safer in a pack of 3 or 4.
I think there's a way you can "stack" an instance with more than 4 people - get 4 into a zone and then disband...then each of you should be able to invite more people in. You can also "trade" DZ money between friends - one of you kills a random to go rogue and your friend then kills you to pick up your money...mainly for extreme circumstances obviously!

Absolutely not for me, yet another great opportunity missed.
Have you played it yet?Of course I have played it, I'll wait until it is in the £10 bin at Game (which I expect to be in June). Polarbert now has an XB1, you guys going to hook up?

X to cover is on (it's the default) but the natural way to leave cover would be to just move away instead of having to press X again to detach. Yes, you will detach eventually by moving but there is enough of a delay to make it annoying. Instead, you stick to the cover and often go around a corner as you move meaning the enemy is on you and you're dead before you know it - I personally found that frustrating as hellAlso, sounds like some of you need to turn on the press X to cover option if you're getting stuck on things.
I'll give it another try, but the game simply hasn't clicked for me. I also don't like bullet sponge bosses, that's just lazy. Give me an interesting mechanic as a challenge please

What was it you didn't like?
just about everything. I am getting old and that means grumpy old man. I look at modern cars and think why haven't you got a single button to do that task instead of having a billion touch screen combinations which take your eye off the road, or cars that read texts. The interface is about as clunky as can be, having to select skils etc on the fly and all that rubbish. Also its just walk, hide, shoot, utterly boring. Why can they not remake the epic Splinter Cell?I am also really fed up with the looming future of online only mode, story or whatever it takes. There is something beautiful about off line single player when its done right.
I guess I am just too old to be arsed to get into this. Looking forward to Deus when it comes out or to Hit man (just hope they aren't some online only rubbish). You could call the Division an earth based version of Destiny.
Is there any variety in the baddies? Just bullet sponge humans?
I didn't get what the point of the dark zone was, is it PvP PvE or some hybrid. Just seemed to have less to do than the outside world.
Does the virus have any effect on gameplay, I got told I was entering an infected zone but it was a bit 'so what'
Not very well explained.
Felt like a zombie game without zombies.

From what I understand (still a very confusing game) it's a combination of PvP/PvE. Most people don't shoot others because it makes you go 'rogue' (and appear purple like NPCs). the infected zone kack is only there for the fact that you need to extract items instead of walking out with them, so that you can use it outside of the dark zone.I didn't get what the point of the dark zone was, is it PvP PvE or some hybrid. I welcome being corrected, so much st about this game I don't really get. Too much info going on at once on screen. small text and other stuff.
There are options to auto-hide the HUD. The Dark Zone is all about the fear or potential of being attacked or not. That and the better gear.
There's a video about the enemy factions you can face here:

I think the dark zone is an interesting Attempt to do something different with PVP rather than just the usual staged death match or formatted co-op. The element of choice, and the lack of knowledge of the intentions of others can make for some interesting emergent gameplay. Someone pointed out stuff like waiting until it snows hard before going rogue as it is then much harder for you to be spotted. I like the quite edgy feel of no one knowing what other people are planning, and the proximity chat is interesting too. The Beta isn't without its flaws - the HUD particularly needs some work as it really is a mess, but the game does have a great atmosphere and setting and there is at least an attempt to try something different. It's certainly going to be a more interesting and less sterile open world than Destiny and it's endless bloody goblins and wizards
One suggestion I would have is that once an extraction is called in that helicopter zone should become like capture the flag - so the drop zone has to be defended properly from changing hands to another group. At the moment it's too easy to just lurk and run in at the last moment to either shoot people or drop your stash. One team should have to hold and defend the drop zone for 30 secs to enable the pickup
