Nice game there with the S35CA, despite your tomato team. It certainly has a nasty selection of guns. 300 average alpha damage at tier 5 can be devastating.

I've just re-bought it, but haven't played it yet. The ace tanker still eludes me.

Well despite my "I hate Arty" stance I actually played some arty over the weekend!

I stumbled across that little tier 5 premium French arty rusting in a dark corner at the back of my garage. God knows how it got there. Anyway with the current mission insanity and this thing spontaneously appearing I took it as a sign. RNGesus was telling me..."you must play canc...ahem...you must play artillery my son".

So I did. 9 games with a 56% win rate. Meh, nothing special and to be honest I was still bored to tears. Then, after I was done with it, I realised I had been firing AP ammo all the time! God I am so bad at arty!

Oh, and by the way, why did nobody tell me artillery gets scout MM? 9 games and every single one of them +1 or +2 MM. Not a single game was my own tier.irked

was forming up a 3 tank TOG platoon, clan mate for a laugh switches to a T7 scout with the intention actually selecting TOG.

For a laugh I click battle = 2 TOG's in a t9 game = rapid death lol.

I spent the weekend with free 3 days premium thanks to finishing the USSR mission on Friday night.

Went through the weekend switching from my Firefly and Churchill Mk3 in order to make cash to finally purchase an E100.

Made 4 million in around 1 and a half days of game time smile The personal missions helped loads but some of them were very tricky, kill 2 heavies in a Tier 5 heavy? Most matches only had 2 heavies and one of them would be a TOG lol.

Tonights plan is to make enough money to purchase my Grille again or Hummle.

Were you doing the entire WZ-111 mission, or just the Soviet mission? It was worth doing some of them at least for the 3 days of premium per nation.

I managed to complete them all last week. The Soviet & Americans didn't take me long as I have so many of their tanks.

I already have the tier 9 heavy tank, so I can use the crew in this tank. First impressions are that it's a perfectly capable tier 8 and a decent money earner. Quite bouncy frontally too.

I just got it, my first impression is that the gun is bloody awful - doesnt seem to pen anything - or am I the only one not using gold ammo?

I try not to, to make more money. 175 pen is fine if you shoot the side of tanks. But at least the 250 pen of premium is very good. On the IS-6 it's 217 and it only carries 30 rounds I think.

I killed an IS-3 by T-boning (ramming) it and keeping it tracked. He couldn't penetrate my turret frontally with his BL-9 gun. If my own idiot arty hadn't hit me for 250 damage and tracked ME as I pulled back to fire, the IS-3 wouldn't have been able to pen me at all. Anyway despite that he still died.

I just got the KV-220, a rare tank but a cheap one, with the leftover gold I had in my account from my Christmas T-34 and Tetrarch purchase. Tbh, I only bought the KV-220 for the rare factor, but I'm glad I got it. My first impressions are one of a tank that sits in an odd place in the MM. It gets pref MM and it needs it, the gun is the 76mm stock gun and stock turret of a KV-1, placed on a KV-3 hull. A tier 5 turret and gun, with a tier 7 hull, in a tier 5 tank - what a mutant!

It struggles against well-armored tier 6s, as the 76mm is unimpressive in just about every way, having neither the pen or accuracy to reliably hit weakspots at range or on moving targets. But you don't buy a KV-220 for the gun, you buy it for the battleship hull. It's bouncy against tier 6s, but it's comical against tier 5s; you can park it in a street, put a little angle on and nothing short of artillery or TDs will be able to shift you. This tank was built to press Steel Wall medals.

The release of this tank, along with the Russian lend-lease Valentine going back on sale as a special makes me think the second Russian heavy line is imminent, probably the last Tuesday of January or the first in Feb. I'm sure there was a leaked "Brotherhood of Iron" press release that was spotted and quickly pulled from the web detailing the second heavy line coming to the 360, so I look forward to that arriving.

Just decided to do it for the premium as I knew I wasn't going to manage them all.

Don't blame you. It was pretty hard core. I can't really bring myself to play much since. Premium or not.

I would think it's OK as long as you're not facing anyone who knows to only shoot it in the turret. An angled KV-1 can kill you no problem without taking any damage. The premium Russian Churchill has the same problem.

Quite, the reasonable gun depression on the KV-220 is negated by the turret position and the fact the turret is the weakspot, so hull down is not a great tactic. I am on a bit of a Russian binge though, so I may buy a KV-2 (again) for a laugh, and try and enjoy it this time.

Just don't trying turning around on soft ground in the KV-220, it makes the KV-2 look nimble.

Proof that, just occasionally, RNG is working with you

http://wotreplays.com/site/1543958#karelia-sleepez...

Several lucky shots and some even luckier (enemy) misses - bit dull as it's an arty replay so you're forgiven for giving it a miss - if you do watch it, skip to when there's only 7 mins left for the action.

Aye, it's dire! It's pretty poor on open maps too due the poor accuracy and relatively low shell velocity.

I got swarmed by 5 tier 3/4 lights in the town on Highway, one of them rammed me at full and nearly killed himself, and the other 4 didn't try to retreat until they realised they couldn't pen me, by which point they were all wrecked and I killed 3 of them as they tried to scarper. I took 4 kills in about 25 seconds.

I noticed too that we've got a proper topographical map for Highway now, as when it was first added to the Xbox the map was a funny thing that looked like it was done in crayon, with buildings in the wrong places, bushes that were not there etc, I think it was an old PC map they must had kicking around, wherever they got it and for whatever reason it was uploaded, it was fking useless. Nothing like looking at a map showing you're in a thicket of bushes when you're really sitting in an open field.

Well Matchmaking seems to be even more special than normal today - so many imbalanced games it's untrue. See if you can spot the problem here:

I think the MM weight of the TOG Platoon must have thrown it out, but even so - 5 top tier vs 11? Thats just wacked out. Would probably have called it a night at that, except we won laugh

Oh I was also trying out the blue weird deegie's sights too. Its odd, very distracting and I'm sure made my game less stable. Back to Jimbo's I go.

The WZ-111 thing is over, but the personal missions have thrown an entire bag of spanners into the works.

Bad players are so deluded they actually think they have a chance in hell of completing these missions. It'll probably take a month of fkwittery before even they realise they won't.

Yeah I had a game in my premium French arty as well. It's the only arty I have. I had to search online for the overhead god mode key as I'd forgotten what it was. I played it only 3 times last year.

500 damage & nailed a KV-2. So damn easy & people don't generally counterbattery you in low tiers. That would have been enough for the second mission, but the first needs you to do 1K damage.

The French premium arty does seem ideally suited to the SPG missions, in the early stages at least. I did the first two in it last night, but think may struggle later on as one of the missions requires 2000 damage iirc. Might be time to buy back my GW Tiger (the tier 8 one) which I rage sold last year.

GW Panther would probably be a better bet, so much better all round than the tier 8 simply because it has the turret. The damage output is lower, but so much more comfortable and less frustrating to play.
