I've just got a PS4 and this game with it. I'm struggling to get into it. Is it a slow burner?

Mouse look. Nuff said biggrin

How people even play console games with bloody joysticks is beyond me.

That said I get where you are coming from on demographics and everything. But PC's are just better at everything generally. Just the demographic for people who actually want to sit down at a PC and spend time with games *isn't* so broad.

Why consoles don't come with keyboards and mice is beyond me, so many games would be quite tolerable via consoles with those interfaces being designed into them.

A little bit, it certainly gets more fun as you unlock more of the skill tree.

Much harder to use a mouse and keyboard on the sofa. For me it depends on the game, FPS=M&K every time, other game types suit controllers.
Controllers are just nowhere near as accurate though, witness the lack of cross platform gaming, no reason not to as the maps are the same and they are likely hosted on exactly the same servers it's just Mouse control means the controller players are at a disadvantage. The few games that have gone cross platform have tended away from twitch/accuracy and those that did tended to hobble PC gamers.

RTS like C&C would also be horrible with a controller imo.

I guess a mouse on the sofa would be a bit naff, but why not still have it as an option?

All it does is open more doors for players willing to go to a bit more depth with their experience if they want.

I've played plenty of console stuff over the years, but still prefer PC gaming overall.

Cant you link a keyboard and mouse through the Bluetooth accessory option?

You can but lot's of games don't support the mapping of commands to keys.
There are solutions out there to resolve that but it's not just a case of plugging in a KB+M to play games.

Wrapped this one up yesterday, I got halfway through act II, finished all the achievements I had an intention of getting (pretty much everything except the online competitive ones, though I did the 10 races thing) and then did act 3, 4 and the final mission / act 5 in 2 sittings.

A decently enjoyable game, let down by a st main character. He's not a bad ass at all, he looks like a fking goof in that daft trench coat and baseball cap, and all of the characters come off as dislikeable to the point of not caring what happens to any of them.

The game is at it's best when you're cruising Chicago, doing the privacy invasions, and the investigations missions, hacking this and that. Where the game falls down is that the shooting feels good, but it's over-relied on. Where the game would rather you used stealth, it's generally just quicker and easier to use a camera to disable reinforcement calls, then gun everyone down with the LMG. If reinforcements do arrive, pull the grenade launcher and shoot them before the men even get out of their cars, rinse and repeat until the game is done. So the game wants you to play one way, but gives no incentive to do so, and makes the alternative far easier and quicker, and it's not exactly a game I wanted to savour, so I just burned through it, guns blazing.

Also, as mentioned elsewhere, the police are way too effective. At least in fixer chases, you can just drive around until you whittle the enemy down to having no cars left, then the chase is over. The constantly respawning police cars and helicopters are a fking ballache. It's hard to use the disable helicopter hack when driving, as you can't pan the camera up to look at the helicopter, so you have to get out and do that, or shoot it with the anti-vehicle rifle, then hope you can outrun the cops - not always easy when they tend to spawn in front of you where avoiding their line of sight is impossible. As said by another poster, if you get the drop on them and make a quick getaway, you can get out of the search range and automatically escape the search, and this really is the best option. Once one or two cars catch up to you, they start to spawn more cars on your route, and you get slowly bogged down as your car takes damage, and then the helicopter gets on you, and escape is just frustrating, rather than fun.

I started playing this yesterday and I'm really enjoying it. I'm still in act 1 but I keep getting distracted by all the side missions and walking round hacking money from people etc. Not too sure about the driving mechanic, not the best but still a very enjoyable game. I want to try to finish this off before Infamous turns up next week.

If you're looking to get most of the achievements ticked off then get to work, it's a big game and takes longer to clear up than you think it will.

Don't think that's going to happen, would be happy to just finish the story really

I thought the main campaign was disappointingly short. Someone said the main guy isn't a badass, but I don't think he is supposed to be. He's a nerd turned something more. Harold Shipman didn't exactly look like a meathead.

Initially it was annoying when got hacked/invaded. Now it's pretty much all I do - good part of the game.

A mate of mine mentioned that he thought they'd tried to make the main character a bit of an everyman, to get away from stereotypical game characters.

I thought he was pretty st, to be honest. Not convicning in the slightest, whether he was doing a low rent Jack Bauer-badass impression or whether the tired voice actor was trying to convey some emotion.

Managed to get a copy for £20. That'll do.

Does anyone else however walk along and go "Oh, just diagnosed with cancer, I won't hack your account then".......

Sometimes I jut shoot them to put them out of their misery.

Don't know what to do with it now though, as I've done all the missions, side-missions, DLC missions, etc. and am just going around starting wars with the police/SWAT and then hiding in safe positions and shooting/grenading/IED-ing until I'm out of ammo and then running/driving away and hiding until it's all cooled off. Then re-stocking and starting again.

I've pretty much completed the game and got my notoriety over 10,000 (fleetingly) from online hacking. Now there's nothing really left to do.

Is the DLC a worthwhile purchase?

They were relatively cheap, and I had some MS points left, so bought them.

The Palace
Infiltrate the home of an Internet mogul before the police can raid it and find information on Aiden and Dedsec on hard drive. Break in, wipe the drive and make your escape before the raid begins. Oh, and don’t forget to take out the mogul. You wouldn’t want him telling anyone what he knows.

Signature Shot
Aiden is a fan of new toys. Such a fan that he’s willing to break into a Viceroy stronghold for one. A shipment containing a biometric weapon has been smuggled into Chicago. It will only fire for the first person to imprint his palm on the handle. Make your way through the stronghold and steal the weapon before anyone else has a chance to imprint it. The Biometric Rifle is perfect for long-range attacks, but it’s high rate of fire makes it a choice weapon for when the fight is a bit closer.

Breakthrough
Part driving, part assassination, all mayhem. The Chicago South Club is meeting with some corporate CEOs and it’s up to Aiden to put an end to their dealings. Scramblers have been hired, so you’ll have to track down their vehicles and take them out before you can locate the secret meeting area and eliminate everyone in attendance.

Along with the Biometric Rifle, this DLC pack also nets you the Auto-6 pistol – a burst-fire weapon that is ideal for dealing heavy damage. As you progress through these three missions you’ll also unlock new outfits (the South Chicago outfit), bonuses, perks and boosts – including a Dedsec Battery boost, which gives you an additional phone battery; a Blume Weapon boost, which reduces recoil and increases loading speeds for all your weapons; a Driving Master boost to raise your vehicle’s hit points; and an ATM Hack boost that will put a little extra green in your pockets.

A couple of the Convoy things really f***ed me off. Knock down instead of kill these two people.. 20 attempts later as people materialise behind me and kill me etc or I kill the feckers instead of knocking them down (too much fun with a semi auto grenade launcher and hey, those chaps in heavy armour need killing).... Then suddenly it is a piece of p**s and you nail them all in seconds....... I just don't get that.
