Dragon Age Inquisition

I have to say this game has the worst ending I have ever experienced, it might as well have flashed up "enter credit card details to download an acceptable ending". Its so bad because the core game is so good.
After playing this game I fired up Skyrim...and Skyrim is better, whacking a thug in the face with my shield 5 inches from my screen is so much more satisfying than shooting a two inch generic "Red Templar". Most of the side quests in Skyrim were just odd, which made them interesting, one of the first ones I came across on the second play had a blind guy who challenges you with something like "Is that you Joe?", he has a book on his desk...it has no words in it....
If they can add followers with DA:I banter to the next Fallout/Elder Scrolls game then I reckon we might just have the perfect game... just don't make the ending DLC.
Must say that Blackwalls story arc took me completely by surprise..but there were hints..excellent writing. Left the bd in Jail.

I found Bianca falling behind in damage terms fairly early on, resulting in Varric not getting much use beyond Hinterlands. Even end-game, I think Biance was around 127 DPS, around 100 down on Cole's equipped bow. A shame, as his banter with Cassandra especially is really quite amusing.
Mine was at about 220DPS (at level 23), but I'd put a decent superb rune in it and upgraded all the bits I could (grip, sights, arms).I put 300+ hours into one character in skyrim and 100+ into the other. It was the first game in years that I literally loved.
I have DA:I and am just a few hours in, wandering around taking over different camp points.
I am struggling with the third party perspective, viewing everything from above. I think I need to put some more time into sitting there solo with the volume up full blast getting into it all.
I enjoyed reading this chat as it has given me some encouragement to get on with it a bit more.
I do miss the first person head smashing or skill based arrow shooting that Skyrim had.
Cheers all

I still much prefer Skyrim to DA but I am enjoying the game. The only reason I prefer Skyrim is I've started over a few times; I'm not sure if this game has replay value for me.
I've just worked out what the collectible shards are for - I'm finding some of them a royal PITA to get to but glad that I've been persevering.
I found my first dragon too (I took a row boat somewhere?!). Completely owned in about 3 seconds flat so ran away...!

Just got into it recently.. Spent about 20-30 hours.. Great game, really enjoying it For all you PC gamers, there is a mod that allows infinite zoom which really makes tactical view more useful and easier to use..
I dont think you can compare to skyrim though.. They are two very different games.. Although i finished skyrim and enjoyed it a lot, i felt Elder scrolls Oblivion was much more fun.. And witcher 2 just spoiled me in terms of single player RPGs, every other RPG feels st after playing witcher 2 lol..

I recently got this but only managed a couple of hours of play - Picked a rogue archer, but find it a bit dull so far. The party system isn't what I was expecting really, I don't want to spend my time having to control other characters, any chance I can play through the whole game not worrying about swapping between characters and setting up tactics etc or is this part of the game and I just have to lump it?

I did just that - only swapped to another party member when my main character got stuck in a wall or behind a rock.HashlakGTR said:

Sounds to me like I need to get hold of Oblivion on the ps3 and fire that up then. I have heard gd stuff about the Witcher 2 but I was late to the party so was awaiting part 3.Rgds,

I have just wrapped this up, at 99.5 hours it was certainly value for money. While the game did feel a little funnelling at times - in particular after second half, you're given the illusion of choice on where to go, but in truth if you don't play the areas in a fairly specific order you'll just get wrecked off the enemies. That said, not long after first getting to Skyhold, if you've been exploring enough, you'll be powerfully levelled and crushing enemies will be a formality, on normal difficulty at least. I dread to think what this game would be like on harder difficulties, as the AI is so bad. I did find that I became a lot more effective in combat once I dropped Varric for Sera, and I swapped Solas for Dorian, as Dorian was a great character, Solas was a whining little turd.
I liked the ending, I thought they wrapped the plot up well, but you can't blame them for leaving it open. I can't remember the last time I saw a game that didn't have an open ending.
I was a bit fked off to have killed all 10 of the high dragons, only to find the achievement counter stuck on 9/10 dragons killed. You'd think that a company like Bioware would be able to avoid glitched achievements. Very shoddy.
I also ended up romancing Blackwall with my Qunari inquisitor. In the character art, Blackwall is depicted as a rugged, muscular man, but his graphical rendering in the game makes him look like a vertically challenged and not particularly tough or dangerous individual. I wanted to cop off with Cassandra but she can't be romanced by a female character, apparently.
