Hi guys, Just a quick one to see who's going to Bolton Abbey on the 7th of October? The website suggests 10am as a time to turn up…just wondering if anyone going would be up for meeting up earlier and going for a leisurely drive first?

bolton abbey location

Expect

If the event happens this happens rain or shine

90miles of country road, similar to that of the second loop of the first run out.

Meeting time: early, about 7:30-8:00

To get your car mucky before we turn up (we can either have a mucky section at the carpark or ill see if i can run us by a jetwash on our way back) i vote mucky!

Ill try incorporate a sarnie shop into the run for some buttys before we go back to Bolton Abbey, cant confirm til i do a recce next week.

...all feedback appreciated.

If you're talking where I think you're talking, and the car is ready, then count me in. I presume that you are talking about 07.30 from Bolton Abbey? biggrin

You know my view on Sunday traffic, it may be best to get up a bit earlier wink

If you can find a suitable cafe type place you can kill some time having breakfast after the run and before heading to Bolton Abbey - just thoughts but your call Mark

Oh, and I wouldn't bother with the jet wash - keep it simple, if people don't want to get their cars dirty they can keep them tucked up in the garage. Can you imagine how long it will take if we all decided to clean our cars!
will sort details on my recce but ill be trying for a cafe for sure, 2 votes for mucky cars then!thumbup seems like the sensible option.
yeah, 7:30am from Bolton Abbey.

sorry been a bit out of touch with this boys cos ive been off work, needless to say planning is continuing and petrol etc is being organised, more details to follow when ive caught upto the pile of work on my desk!

stevie... behave ladwink , no-body is going to have any problems keeping upto you because your going to be obeying the speed limit like we will be because the last thing we want to see is a gt3 at the bottom of the hillside, for alot of the sections we're talking sheer cliff-faces and no barriers!...but awesome scenery!

The drive alone is worth it for the bacon butties!

Right, for the impatient and excitable ones out there here's all you should need to know about Yorkshire Run 2 (the pre CITP gathering). Its my intention to run this rain/shine so long as CITP goes ahead…hell even if it doesn’t infact!!!

Ill leave it to you to fill up before you come.
Shell Garages,

1:- 329 LEEDS ROAD
Ilkley
LS29 8NF
2:- RIPON ROAD
Harrogate
HG1 2BS

Id like everyone to meet up at Bolton Abbey at 7:20 for a 7:30 prompt start as per this map

Although the route has been established and to some degree has been discussed no further details shall emerge until we meet, things have changed since the recce anyway so some of the information is out of date. You will be supplied with a detailed map of the route and my mobile number at Bolton Abbey. Further to this it is not my intention to lose anyone! All you need to know is this… its about 100miles of great challenging roads to take in the scenery and have a top notch bacon sarnie 1/2 way through the route (at about 8:30-9am depending on progress)!!! Weather depending it is my intention to stop a couple of times for those with cameras to take pics of the cars. Where and when depends on the turnout size.
Post sandwiches we'll head off back to Bolton Abbey for Cars In the Park. (Don’t forget to Print off the "P" from the CITP website to get access to the right area)

I don’t mean to sound like a hardass but there are some (hopefully obvious) rules id like you all to respect in ADDITION to those the highway code promotes. In order to maximise the success of the run.

No overtaking where you cant see whats coming for a fair old way, and id advise completely against it on the bumpy sections as it'd be easy (and embarrasing) to get caught out.

Keep the guy behind in view, if they drop away for any considerable time, slow down to let em catch and flash your lights to let the person in front know too.

Please don’t rev engines in builtup areas.

When you arrive at the entrance of Bolton Abbey in the morning please turn your car around and reverse down the entrance (so we're all able to pull out in one)and so we can all get off on time.

at the entrance with the big monument that goes down to the pavillion where cars in the park is being held. plenty of room to turn about. the reason i didnt choose the other locations is because of gates. Most of the carparks are locked until about 9am.

yup! certainatly suited to evo's. infact if you gave a kid (or a big kid with an evo) some crayons and asked them to draw an awesome road it'd look like the route we're doin!!!smile
